Islforgton Ballet Recommendations:Ok, so we know about classes and festivals, but how about specific things to do in Islforgton?
1. The Dance Studio - A Haven for all things Ballet!
Right on the main road in Islforgton you'll find the lovely "The Dance Studio," It's one of my favourite places to go because they offer something for everyone: classical ballet, contemporary ballet, pointe classes, and even workshops for aspiring choreographers. And get this – they have the most amazing outdoor dance space! I’m thinking of grabbing some friends and hosting a summer picnic-ballet in that area – what do you think?
2. The Royal Ballet Summer School:
If you’re serious about taking your ballet journey to the next level, check out the Royal Ballet Summer School. It's one of the most prestigious dance programs in the country. It attracts dancers of all ages, from beginners to professionals, and offers a diverse range of classes taught by internationally acclaimed dancers and teachers. You'll get a taste of rigorous training, explore different dance genres, and build confidence and self-expression. This one’s a must for those serious about summer ballet training!
3. Islforgton's Grand Park:
Okay, hear me out! Grand Park is one of my go-to spots for open-air dance. They host the amazing 'Summer Dance Festival' in July - and trust me, this event is not to be missed!
Dressing for the Dance:Okay, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention summer-friendly dance wear. Ballet, after all, is not just about technique. It’s about feeling beautiful while dancing. Here's what's rocking my wardrobe this summer:
1. The Versatile Tutu: Yes, this is a staple! It’s just as elegant for a beach walk as it is for an outdoor dance class. There are a tons of different styles out there so you’ll definitely find something for your taste!
2. Flowing Fabrics: You can’t beat lightweight fabrics in hot weather. So, think floaty skirts, capri pants, crop tops in vibrant summer colours - and definitely don’t forget to incorporate those girly pastel pink and white accents.
3. *Chic Comfort - Ballet is *active, but it also calls for looking stylish. Look for ballet-inspired shoes - flats are my favourite - they are so stylish and they add a little something to the whole look. If you need something for the gym, sneakers are definitely still cool. Just make sure they fit properly and give you enough support.
4. Accessories That Bring Your Look to Life: You know I love accessories! I think a little bling goes a long way. Add a gorgeous hair clip to keep those unruly strands out of your face while you dance.
Summertime Ballet Inspirations:Let's be honest, every girl needs a bit of inspiration! This summer, I'm looking to all the incredible dancers out there who are truly pushing boundaries, and challenging our ideas about what ballet is. They’re taking the stage and they are absolutely killing it! They show us that beauty is about celebrating the individual and all those unique expressions.
Here are some dancers you need to be checking out:
- Margot Fonteyn: Classic elegance! You can't talk about ballet without mentioning Margot Fonteyn, She's a timeless icon who captured grace and artistry in every single performance.
- Sylvie Guillem: This modern ballet icon, and an amazing choreographer in her own right, she just has such a phenomenal presence and style on stage. She challenges conventional approaches and it's inspiring.
- Misty Copeland: Misty is a role model, and an example to us all! This incredibly gifted dancer, who faced obstacles and truly made history, proves that the power of belief and perseverance can break barriers and achieve your dreams. She is such a role model, not only for ballerinas but for anyone pursuing a passion!
Let's face it, dance, especially ballet, is such a fun, inspiring way to exercise, and it just lifts our spirits. So, go on! Make the most of this amazing summer ballet season. Get out there, dance your heart out, embrace the joy of movement and take it from me, you’ll love it. Let's make Islforgton the ballet capital of the summer!
