Pink Tutu News #43: A Dance Through Time - 1615! 🩰💖

Hello my gorgeous lovelies! 💖 Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, taking you on a whirlwind journey through the world of ballet... all the way back to 1615!

This week, I’m diving headfirst into a year brimming with elegant courtly dances, extravagant costumes, and a whole heap of historical intrigue! Imagine: ruffs, powdered wigs, and beautiful ladies gliding across the floor. That’s our 1615 ballet world!

Courtly Delights:

You might think of ballet as being a grand theatre affair, but back in 1615, it was a key part of royal entertainment! In France, King Louis XIII hosted the Ballet de la Délivrance de Renaud, a show-stopping ballet performance showcasing some truly magnificent artistry. Think dazzling costumes, graceful choreography, and, of course, a whole lot of panache!

But let's face it, I’m all about the details! This ballet performance would’ve been filled with grand spectacle – think rich fabrics, elaborate hairstyles, and the ultimate accessory? A gorgeous, wide ruff around the neck! Imagine being a spectator! What an event! 💖

Ballet in Italy:

Whilst France was showing off its elegant moves, over in Italy, things were getting exciting! Niccolò Sabbatini a fascinating and flamboyant playwright was designing ballet sets! How’s that for a job? Imagine drawing up amazing backdrops for ballerinas, their delicate tutus contrasting with his ornate and beautifully-crafted creations! I can already feel the magic and atmosphere.

Ballet Fashion Back in 1615:

Of course, what’s ballet without beautiful costumes? Forget your frilly, tutus-of-today. Ballet costumes in 1615 were ALL about long, elegant skirts, graceful movements, and intricate embroidery. It wasn't about revealing anything – think high collars and flowing garments that enhanced the dancers’ movements.

I know you lovely lot are all about your fashion choices, so keep an eye out for my special “1615 Style Inspiration" post next week – I’ll be revealing how you can get that glamorous, courtly look today with a dash of modern pink-tutu flair! 🩰

Shopping Spree:

When I travel back in time, you know I always grab some beautiful treasures to share with you, and 1615 is bursting with inspiration! This week’s highlight is a beautiful 17th-century French fan – absolutely gorgeous with its ornate designs and delicate feathers. It’s a real vintage gem, perfect for that courtly ball you’ve been meaning to throw!

A Time-Travelling Dancer:

While you might be asking, “Emma, how do you time-travel?” My lovely lot, it’s a secret. I can just say, a certain set of skills and an elegant leap into a time portal or two and voila, history awaits! But let’s be honest, nothing quite beats the thrill of performing on the street, sharing my love of ballet and fashion! You'll be sure to find me near Derbyshire's stunning chateaux, spinning in a whirl of pink-tutu delight – maybe I’ll teach you a little French dance from 1615, while we're there.
