Pink Tutu News Post #438: Back to the Futureā€¦2010!

Greetings, darling ballet enthusiasts! Emma here, your resident pink tutu aficionado, ready to whisk you back in time to the year 2010! šŸ©° This time travelling ballerina is always on the hunt for the most exciting and stylish ballet moments from history.

Now, let's travel back to 2010ā€¦ what a glorious year for the world of ballet!

The year began with a flurry of excitement. The Royal Ballet graced the stage with a magnificent production of "Romeo and Juliet". Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon's adaptation was met with resounding applause. Oh, how I dream of stepping into Julietā€™s shoes ā€“ or shall we say, point shoes! - and gracefully soaring across the stage!

Of course, no discussion of 2010 is complete without a mention of American Ballet Theatre's "The Nutcracker"! Their production is pure spectacle. And Iā€™m not just saying that because I absolutely adore this holiday ballet ā€“ think sparkly costumes and delightful choreography. And letā€™s be honest, Mikhail Baryshnikov made it utterly captivating, with the grandeur of the sets. I've watched it again and again on DVD ā€“ oh, the dreamy twirls and exquisite artistry! Iā€™ve also added ā€œThe Nutcrackerā€ to my bucket list, darling! You see, a fellow ballerina never stops dreaming.

Over in Paris, "Swan Lake" was creating quite the buzz. The Paris Opera Ballet had this divine version with such intricate and expressive choreography, that had audiences spellbound! They even incorporated breathtaking scenery, bringing the story of Odette to life. This captivating ballet just further solidified 2010 as a stellar year for dance!

Now, what about fashion? Let's talk tutus, darlings! Tutus, they were all the rage. In 2010, tutus were big, bold and fabulous, with full, frothy skirts that swirled and twirled beautifully. We're talking tutu heaven! Just imagine all the options to create a perfectly elegant look! I must admit, I did quite a bit of window shopping myself that year, even browsing the internet and vintage boutiques for a classic yet modern tutu! My very first collection of tutus was, in fact, inspired by a ballet shop trip to Derbyshire, and of course, a visit to Covent Garden.

Of course, ballet is so much more than the stage! In 2010, I stumbled upon a delightful surprise in my own city: "Street ballet"! Yes, imagine it! Dancing ballet outdoors, captivating everyone with every step! This unexpected discovery was an absolute joy. We danced in squares, in parks, and in marketplaces ā€“ the whole city was our stage! Our passion for ballet was so strong that we felt like we were right in the middle of some captivating production, just with a touch more fresh air. And yes, you can guess what we woreā€¦ bright pink tutus, naturally!

These impromptu performances were perfect for showcasing our artistic spirit and adding a touch of beauty to every corner of the city! My pink tutu felt perfect for street ballet! What can I say? The sunshine just illuminates it so well.

But remember, darling, ballet is all about making a statement and that is something that resonated very much with my 2010 street ballet adventure.

Speaking of style, a very fashionable year indeed! Ballet fashion had truly arrived. Fashion houses like Moschino and **Christian Dior embraced the spirit of the ballet world, incorporating graceful lines, romantic details and even adding a few touch of tulle here and there! Oh my, there was such an elegance to the fashion scene. You just had to step into a high-end shop, or simply take a walk down the street, and youā€™d get a dose of that lovely ballet inspiration!

All these amazing things ā€“ it just makes me feel even more passionate about ballet and I feel itā€™s time to bring a bit of ballet history alive and celebrate it with a very special blog post series, focusing on the most fashionable eras in ballet!

Of course, this little ballerina canā€™t go time-travelling without some support! So, this yearā€™s "Street ballet" collection will be even more exciting as my performances in Covent Garden, London and other locations are supporting this series. This blog needs your support, darlings! Just the sight of all those fabulous outfits will surely inspire you. Maybe you will join me on my adventures in the wonderful world of ballet.

Youā€™ll hear about my new time-travel adventure very soon! In the meantime, join me as we revel in the magic and the elegance of ballet! Donā€™t forget, dear ballet lovers, a tutu isnā€™t just an article of clothing, itā€™s a symbol of beauty and passion. And who knows, you may even be inspired to step out and embrace your own ā€œstreet balletā€ moment! Just be sure to rock that fabulous tutu ā€“ itā€™s the key to unleashing the graceful ballerina within!

Keep it glamorous!
Emma xoxo
