Pink Tutu Post #446: Twirling Through 2018 - A Year of Sparkling Performances and Tutu Trends!

Hello, my lovelies! Emma here, your favourite Derbyshire ballerina, back with another peek into the wonderful world of ballet! This time we're going back to 2018 – a year bursting with ballet brilliance, glimmering tutus, and performances that sent shivers down our spines. Buckle up, my darlings, for a journey through time, a whirl through history, and a whole lot of pink (of course)!

Let’s Talk Tutus!

2018 was a year of daring fashion! We saw bold and daring cuts, stunning silhouettes, and, oh, those fabrics! From flowing chiffon to dazzling lace, every tutu told a story. It was a time for experimentation, a beautiful merging of classical elegance with a touch of modern whimsy. You see, a tutu is not just a garment; it's an embodiment of dance.

Remember those breathtaking performances by The Royal Ballet? The tutus, darling, simply exquisite! Think billowing tulle, perfectly sculpted lines, a burst of colour… They truly danced on the stage. And for a moment, I just wanted to be in that tutu, twirling amongst the stars!

Speaking of the stars, there was The Nutcracker, a ballet tradition so loved, it just couldn't stay away. Every year, the tutus and their stories draw crowds and families together for the magic of Christmas.

Adventures in Time Travel - Finding the Past in 2018

Now, a little secret, I have the most fabulous, magical ability (don’t tell everyone!). I’ve learned the art of dancing through time, always keeping an eye out for captivating shows and trends that tickle my inner ballerina. With the help of my trusty pink tutu, and a lot of pirouettes in the street, I find myself popping back into history, soaking up every bit of magic!

It’s a whirlwind adventure, and in 2018, I saw the most stunning performance of Giselle by The Paris Opera Ballet, their graceful movements, the hauntingly beautiful music. They brought this tragic tale of a village girl and the powerful magic of love to life. I felt the emotion right in my core!

Ballet Beyond the Stage

I always say, "Ballet is for everyone!". You don’t have to be a ballerina to be a ballet lover. Just like there’s a tutu for every personality, ballet offers something for every heart! And 2018 was a year where ballet blossomed outside its traditional venues.

Imagine my joy! Seeing a Swan Lake performance right in the middle of a busy park in London! I was enthralled! Ballet outdoors had a whole new energy to it, an openness that embraced everyone who just wanted to be surrounded by beauty and grace.

Making Ballet Magical

One of my biggest goals in life (besides collecting every type of tutu, of course) is to make ballet a part of everyones lives, just as it's a part of mine! In 2018, we saw so many brilliant ideas take shape - pop-up ballet classes, ballet in museums, and, get this! Ballet for your beloved pets. What more could a ballet lover want!

I have so many wonderful stories to share from this era, from the beautiful new choreographies to the most innovative costume design! The world of ballet, always in flux, kept reinventing itself in 2018, creating a breathtaking, ever-evolving art form, that never ceases to amaze me! Stay tuned for the next blog post!

And until next time, remember: A life with ballet is a life filled with magic! Keep those twirls coming!

Your always-pink, always-spinning, Emma!

P.S: Don't forget, darlings, it's all about embracing that beautiful you inside! So put on that pink tutu and take a twirl, even if just around your living room. Every step is a celebration!
