Hiya my lovelies, it's your girl Emma, bringing you all the hottest drag history, fashion, and glamour right here on www.pink-tutu.com. Today, I’m time travelling back to 12th December, 1963, in my oh-so-fabulous pink time-travelling tutu! It’s a date that may not scream "drag," but trust me, darlings, there's always something bubbling in the world of drag. Let’s get into it!

This particular day, dear readers, coincides with the opening night of "The Milkman," a brand new show starring none other than our legendary dame, Julie Andrews! Talk about iconic. Julie, before becoming the undisputed queen of musical theatre, started her career in the realm of pantomime - that’s British panto, dolls, you know? This date is a big deal for any theatre aficionado! But hold on tight, because 1963 was a big year for our fave Julie - she also nabbed the lead role in "Mary Poppins," another smash hit! It seems, dearie, the stars were aligned for Ms Andrews, a shining example that drag truly permeates through our arts.

While Julie was captivating the London crowds, something truly spectacular was unfolding in New York. Now, darling, let's get real: the 1960s were a hotbed of exciting changes, and it’s fair to say New York was at the epicentre of it all. The underground, oh it was happening. 1963 marks a critical moment in this movement. And who was at the helm? The famed drag ball and underground club, "The Monster's Ball." These balls were truly a force to be reckoned with. Think dazzling costumes, fabulous dances, and an explosion of individuality.

While it's impossible to time travel back and join the party, the sheer fact that a community of talented individuals was embracing drag in this way shows the transformative power of drag and the unwavering support that drag artists have for each other, and oh darlings, that’s something to celebrate!

But hold your horses, babes! My mission, my darling dream, is to spread the pink-tutu love worldwide! This little dream of mine means bringing a touch of whimsy, of pink tutu chic to all corners of the world. The colour pink, it’s my absolute obsession! The colour pink, that’s the power that transports me, a shimmering pink tutu - and I believe every soul should experience the thrill of embracing their own pink tutu power!

It may not be a 1963 disco night, but darling, every single one of us, has the potential to add a touch of glamour to our own worlds.

Whether it's dressing up in a glamorous tutu at your next local drag show, joining your local LGBTQ+ group, or simply taking inspiration from the history of drag, my aim is to inspire you all to find your pink tutu power and let it shine.

So let's make it happen, sweeties! You’re looking fantastic today, darling, don’t forget to head over to my online store to shop my curated range of pink tutus - just click that "buy now" button!
Until next time,

Emma
