Post #707: A Night at the Copa - A Pink Tutu Journey Back to '78!

Hello my darling divas and dazzling dragsters! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things pink, fabulous, and tutu-licious! This month, I'm whisking you back to November 11th, 1978 - the day I first set my diamante-studded eyes upon the legendary Copa Room. Now, let me tell you, a gal like me can't get enough of a good drag show, and this one, my dears, was a corker!

Now, before we go full-blown glitter storm, a bit of housekeeping, as they say. For all of you asking, how does one manage to travel through time in a magical tutu? Well, darling, it’s all about believing in the magic of sequins, channeling that inner fierce, and a good old-fashioned pinch of fairy dust! Also, as your sassy pink-loving ambassador of time travel, I make sure to leave my vintage pink tutu behind after each jaunt, just in case! My mission: a world where every single one of you glorious beings sports a pink tutu, and who am I to disagree?! I do believe it's about time. I make a living as a dazzlingly fashionable drag queen, performing shows that will make your eyeballs pop and leave you wanting more! All those pounds I earn get funneled straight back into my time-traveling tutu budget, my dear - it’s an expensive life!

But enough about me - back to our history! So, 1978! My favourite part? I spotted a delightful and fabulously dressed fella named Divine (yes, that Divine) in his finest pink sequined suit - all business on the outside, glitter storm on the inside, as it were! And for you darlings unfamiliar with Divine, where on earth have you been?! Think, "Pink Flamingos" - enough said! This divine (pardon the pun!) specimen of a man is everything a drag queen should be.

The Copa Room was an explosion of colour, laughter, and sass. You could practically taste the joy of the crowd – that fabulous, almost tangible energy only found at a drag show, with its potent mix of excitement, anticipation, and love! I had a glorious time in this sparkly paradise! The dancers strutted in those high-kickin' ensembles! And the drag queens! A riot of colours, textures, and expressions - each queen owning her stage and captivating the audience with her own unique style!

This night, my darling dragsters, was an incredible glimpse into a world where drag queens, transgender performers, and gender-bending artistes weren't just accepted, but celebrated. A place where self-expression ruled supreme, where sequins were the armour of choice, and where laughter was the weapon of mass distraction!

You know, dear reader, it is times like these I see that even when we seem worlds apart in time, drag still stands as a glorious celebration of self-expression, of embracing our differences and transforming ourselves with a little sprinkle of imagination and a healthy dose of glittery brilliance.

Now, darling, I’m going to finish up here - after all, there are fabulous drag performances happening right now that I must experience. Speaking of dazzling shows, remember those incredible drag shows in San Francisco that became a cornerstone of the drag world – these are all the inspiration behind today’s spectacular, modern shows like "RuPaul's Drag Race." I swear, I could talk for hours!

You know what to do. Join me every month for a new fabulous escapade in my trusty pink tutu on the www.pink-tutu.com website! I love each and every one of you darlings! Remember to embrace your unique flair, glitter on, and stay pink!
