Pink-Tutu.com Presents: Drag Queen Time Travel Blog Post #757 - A Peek at the Divine!

Hiya darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveller. January 1st, 1983? Why, that's a date fit for a Queen! Imagine, darlings, being able to zip through the time-space continuum in a dazzling pink tutu, a feather boa twirling, landing smack-bang in the heart of the drag scene. My dear, the 80s were a glorious time for us fabulous folks! Think bright colours, daring looks, and a whole lot of camp.

Oh, you fancy a trip with me, love? I'm all for it! So, hold onto your fabulous hats (or feather boas, whichever suits your look!), and prepare for a trip back in time...

My Diary: A Glimpse at Drag History

The 1st of January, 1983, and I'm landed smack-bang in the middle of New York City. My darling, let me tell you, this is the birthplace of drag. The heart of it all, where legends are born and glamour reigns supreme! It's a little chilly here, but I've got my darling pink tutu on - you know, keeping things cosy and chic! It was at this very moment, in the early 80s, that drag started to become a whole lotta mainstream - I'm talking magazines, I'm talking about everyone getting in on the fabulous action! The Drag Scene here was just a-buzzing with life! Imagine, drag being recognised as an art form, not just some silly sideshow! You'd see the divine ladies all over - nightclubs, theatres, even the street. There was something so daring about the look, it was all about individuality and pushing boundaries! My, how I loved it!

Oh, I must tell you about a show I saw last night. I popped in at a place called “The Pyramid Club”. It was quite the experience - a real dive, with sticky floors and even stickier music! But the energy in there - divine! There were dancers strutting, and performers of every imaginable type. This fabulous diva called Divine was performing, oh my heavens, what a performance! I felt I could dance for days! It was quite a performance, a mix of humour and flamboyance - a bit of that naughty-naughty, if you know what I mean! The crowd went absolutely wild. Just a total feast for the eyes! I was reminded of the fact that drag has this magic ability to pull us all in! Even the staidest folk get all camp when there’s a drag show around! I left that place buzzing with joy, so invigorated and inspired!

Let’s Get Personal, Shall We?

But enough of the history books! I can't let you go without a little sneak peek at my own life. Now, darling, you know I live for the glamorous life, right? After the performance at The Pyramid Club, I spent the day on a shopping spree in Greenwich Village. A total blast, dear! Those quaint boutiques! It was like stepping back in time with all the antique shops, coffee houses, and all that vintage glamour!

Later in the evening, I slipped into a delicious dinner at “Elaine’s,” one of those super exclusive spots where you know everyone’s gonna be discussing all the hottest trends, darling. I met the most amazing designer there. She made the most exquisite clothes, especially for ladies like us. I swear, we had an impromptu catwalk in the middle of dinner. It’s a little crazy but I love those impromptu fashion shows in random spots! So, you can guess I have a new designer wardrobe for my performances. Imagine it! Stunning silk blouses with lace embellishments and floor-length skirts - a true testament to 80s fabulousness!

Now, you all know my biggest passion - I dream of spreading the gospel of pink tutus across the whole world, every single day, darling!

### Why Pink Tutus, you ask?

Oh darling, they are more than just a garment! They are a statement! They say, "I'm here, I'm fierce, and I'm fabulous!" It's a way to say, “We embrace joy, we embrace colour!” The pink tutu is about expressing yourself. It’s about letting the light shine through - it’s about confidence, it's about freedom, it’s about being YOU, every fabulous, sparkling inch of you! And who knows, maybe some day you’ll even see a time traveler in a pink tutu whizzing through the centuries to deliver this message of fun and fabulousness - don't say I didn't warn you!

Right then, darlings! It's time for me to make my escape - I’ve got a drag ball to get to, in Manchester, next! You all know what to do – spread the love, spread the pink, and embrace your inner sparkle. Catch you next month, babes! Remember, you are amazing, darling!
