Pink Tutu Travels: #DragQueenHistory: February 2004 - Post 1010

Alright darlings! Emma here, your resident pink tutu-wearing time-travelling queen, and this month we're diving into the fabulous February of 2004. Grab your tiaras and get ready for a whirlwind of glitter, glam and a dash of history!

I know what you're thinking: 2004? Was that just last week? Doesn't feel like it does it, love? Time really does fly when you're having a ball in your pink tutu.

Now, back in February of 2004, the world of drag was just bursting with exciting things! And trust me, darling, I was there to see it all! My magical pink tutu carried me right into the heart of the action.

A Draggy Dash Through February 2004

So let's get down to it. What was happening in drag back in February 2004? Well, imagine it: a cocktail of lip-syncing legends, dazzling performances, and an endless supply of sass!

In New York City, the legendary Wigstock was gearing up for another incredible year. Now, I wasn't lucky enough to see it in 2004, but I did have the pleasure of time-travelling to a previous year! It's a true festival of drag with fierce performers, a fabulous crowd, and the most infectious energy.

Across the pond, the London drag scene was hotter than a pair of sequin-covered fishnet stockings! We were getting our dose of glamour at places like Madame Jojo's - a proper institution! Think decadent nights with electrifying performers, some of whom I'd go on to admire for their amazing drag throughout my travels.

You know me, love, I couldn't just watch. I hit the stage at Madame Jojo's, spun a little, twirled a little, and the crowd went wild! The sheer joy on their faces, those eager for a little pink tutu magic, fuelled me through a dazzling set. Let me tell you, darling, there was no shortage of glamour! It was the epitome of "old-school drag," that sophisticated, high-energy kind that just pulls you in.

Speaking of sophisticated, I couldn't resist heading over to Manchester. There I was, in my trusty pink tutu, strutting through a packed club filled with fabulous performers. The energy was electric, the makeup was fierce, and the audience was wild. It was a total reminder of how inclusive and exciting the world of drag can be!

My Own February 2004

Now, how did my little Derbyshire self manage all this travel in just one month? Well, dear readers, it was all about those fierce, fabulous performances I put on back home! That's how I fuel my time-travelling, and the local community embraced my pink tutu madness! The more sequins, the more tutus, the more pink - the better, you see?

In February of 2004, I was doing drag bingo at The Miners Arms - yes, darlings, you heard me right, bingo with a pink tutu! It was utter madness! There were shouts of "Bingo!," laughs, a whole lotta sequins, and everyone seemed to win (at least I was winning at giving a good time!)

And you know me, darling, I can't leave the house without some shopping, especially in the vintage department. You can never have too many sequined vintage dresses, darling! And a shop window full of glittery handbags just screams my name.

Pink Tutu for Everyone

And remember my dear readers: it's not just about my pink tutu. It's about sharing the love of drag! So let me ask you this: Are you ready for a little pink tutu madness?

Think about it, darling: every day, more and more people are falling in love with drag. Whether you're in Derbyshire or the bright lights of New York, there's something magical about drag that makes everyone feel just a little bit fabulous.

So join me on this incredible journey through time and wear your own pink tutu! Let's keep the legacy of drag alive, bring that sparkly sparkle, and inspire a generation of queens!
