Pink-Tutu.com: Blog Post #1109 - A Drag Queen's Time-Travelling Tutu Trip to... May 2012!

Hello, darling darlings! Emma here, your fabulous time-travelling drag queen, ready to take you on another sparkly adventure. This month, my magical pink tutu whisked me back to a glorious time in drag history - May 2012!

Now, picture this: The world was buzzing with anticipation for the Euro 2012 football championships, but I was focused on something much more glamorous - drag!

The scene in May 2012 was just utterly divine. There was a definite feel of excitement in the air, like the whole drag world was getting ready for a dazzling makeover. We had our RuPaul's Drag Race winners, the iconic Jinkx Monsoon and Bianca Del Rio, gracing the stage with their larger-than-life personalities. This was the era of fierce talent, jaw-dropping makeup, and unforgettable stage presence.

My first stop was New York City, where I found myself right in the middle of "The Werk Room" – the set for RuPaul’s Drag Race! I had to sneak in, obviously, wearing my best pink tutu and a big smile. The judges, the queens, all these incredible talents – it was overwhelming in the best possible way! I even had a quick chat with Miss Fame, and she looked absolutely stunning in a silver sequin gown, I'm telling you!

But, there’s more! I also found myself in the heart of London's West End, the birthplace of theatre magic. I just had to witness the spectacle that was the “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” musical – what a fabulous production! So much pink, glittery outfits, and an infectious love for everything drag. My kind of night, darlings! I think I spotted some fans dancing along with me – they were truly a lovely lot, and they weren't afraid to embrace their inner drag queens.

I'm always delighted by the impact these fantastic productions have on the wider world. It's not just a drag show; it's a celebration of freedom, individuality, and of course, glamour.

Now, speaking of glamour, I also paid a visit to Manchester - oh, it was absolutely bonkers! This month in 2012, Manchester’s drag scene was swarming with talent. There were all kinds of drag events happening everywhere. From camp, comedy nights to full-on, theatrical drag spectaculars. It was a melting pot of incredible performers, from fierce and powerful to comedic and outlandish. And, let me tell you, their audiences were just as enthusiastic and supportive. It was an electric atmosphere.

But the drag magic didn't stop there! I took my pink tutu on a whirlwind journey across the globe – from the bustling drag scene of Los Angeles to the exciting shows happening in Sydney, Australia! And believe me, those Aussie queens know how to throw a party. Drag is a truly global phenomenon, a reminder that individuality, creativity, and most importantly, love for fabulousness, connects us all!

Now, I couldn't possibly finish this blog post without giving a nod to my own performance diary for May 2012. Remember, I fund these fabulous time travels by entertaining folks with my own brand of campy fun! I've been saving every single penny to make my grandest dreams of time-travelling pink tutus come true, and so I’ve been working tirelessly, honing my skills in the local clubs and theatres of my beloved Derbyshire. I have to say, my audiences in Derby have been absolutely divine. So supportive and full of energy! The laughter and the applause always remind me of why I love performing, and why I want to share the joy of drag with everyone.

Oh, and one more little secret… you may notice a new collection of Pink Tutu-inspired fashion making its debut in my online store this month. Embrace your inner drag queen, channel your inner sass, and dance to the rhythm of your own beat. After all, it’s all about the glitter and the glamour!
