Pink-Tutu Post #1154: February 2016 - A Glittery Trip Through Time to the Year... Well, 2016!

Hello my darlings! Emma here, your favourite Derbyshire-born, tutu-wearing, time-travelling drag queen! Now, buckle up your sequined slippers and get ready for a right royal good time, because today we're jet-setting right back to February 2016! (That's a shockingly recent trip for a seasoned time traveller like myself!)

My fabulous pink tutu is still gleaming from its recent jaunt, practically pulsating with excitement, and the tickle of glitter is still dancing on my cheeks! Oh darling, I must tell you all about this truly momentous trip...

First up, let's talk about February 2016... A time of fabulousness, darlings! Just picture this: the world was bursting with excitement for RuPaul's Drag Race Season 8. That's right! We had queens like Naomi Smalls (so fabulous in a hot pink leotard and wig!) serving fierce looks, Bob the Drag Queen spreading her legendary humor and heart, and, oh, Kim Chi with her whimsical make-up and fashion. It was just the kind of inspirational explosion of fierce queens that really got me pumping in my tutu!

But let me take you on this glorious journey… It was my first time traveling to 2016 in a few months, you see. The air hummed with exciting news: The Drag Race girls were in the final stretch, with Naomi Smalls snatching that crown, oh my darling! The whole world seemed to be celebrating in a glittery whirlwind! My journey took me all over - the UK, a whirlwind visit to NYC for the Drag Race Finale…and even a little side trip to...well, let’s just say you’ll be shocked when you hear where my tutu carried me this month, my darlings!

London Calling!

I started my journey right here in good old London. Let’s face it: London is always an exciting stop on any drag queen’s itinerary. You can't escape the iconic shows, darling! There's the always brilliant Drag Race viewing parties, like the one I found myself in at The Glory. I swear, it was like a giant pink feather boa exploding with laughter, gossip, and fabulousness! But let's be honest, my darling - even more important was a quick shopping trip at Topshop and H&M! Where else could I possibly get all my sequin tops, body-con dresses, and sparkling headbands? I found myself bursting with fashion envy, and snagged some truly beautiful additions to my personal drag wardrobe.

Speaking of fabulously talented queens, Baga Chipz and Blu Hydrangea (that queen truly knows how to werk a feather!) were already establishing themselves as icons in London at this time! I even caught one of Baga's famous live shows. I swear, my wig flew off from pure joy, and even my tutu twirled with excitement! She was on fire, absolutely captivating the entire room with her iconic humour and bold drag style! What a powerhouse queen she already was…oh darling, it was quite a night to be sure!

A Glittery NYC Trip

It's a good thing I'm a master of packing, darlings, because my pink tutu and I soon found ourselves jetting off to NYC! (You know me, I have a reputation for fabulous travel.)

There's nothing quite like a good old Drag Race Finale, right, darlings? The atmosphere was just electric and we're all so used to seeing the contestants go head-to-head but there is a specialness to watching queens become crowned. Everyone from RuPaul and Michelle Visage to the legendary drag icon, Lady Gaga , was there. It was *all glitz and glamour! And I, of course, was right in the midst of it all!

While we're talking NYC, the Drag Race finale was one thing, but, darling, what really sent my inner tutu-wearing fashionista into a frenzy were the fabulous shops: Alexander McQueen! Oh, the stunningly extravagant dresses...I dream of wearing a dress like that in a drag performance. Gucci was absolutely splendid too… let's be honest, you can't visit NYC without checking out their designs. Let me tell you, there's no finer shop in the world for that gorgeous blend of sleek tailoring and extra designs.

And oh, the queens! NYC had the best of them - Miss Fame , Jackie Beat... my dear, they're iconic!

Oh My! That Pink Tutu Led Me To....A School Playground!

I swear, you’d think my pink tutu had a life of its own! After my time in NYC, it whisked me right away… to the school playground, darling. And I’m not talking some chic high school, my dears - I’m talking a very, very elementary school! Goodness, darling!

And you'll never believe who I met! Well, no, no, don’t assume.

Let’s just say one of the world’s most famous artists (I’m talking the pop art kind , my darling…!) just happened to be having an afternoon reading to local children that day… oh darling, the juxtaposition was unbelievable! A world famous artist and me in my fabulous tutu… and the children? *Oh, they were *entranced, and I think I even got a child to don a pink tutu in solidarity! That's my aim, darling - a whole world in pink tutus!

And let me tell you, it's already happening... the pink tutu phenomenon is taking over the world! The joy that children had - my darling, it just fills my heart with pink tutu love! It was almost worth braving a school lunch.

The Month of February, and The Big Pink Tutu Fashion Statement

February 2016, darlings - it’s hard to think of this month without that big announcement… Yes, I’m talking about the legendary pop queen, Rihanna's, unveiling of the new, absolutely fabulous and oh-so-pink Puma Fenty collection. My darling, the collection sent the fashion world swooning. You'd have thought they were throwing feathers at me... a tutu-wearing, fashion queen's dream come true! (Well, a pink tutu wearing queen with a budget, let’s be honest.)

I mean, she knows that the key to ultimate glamor is pink, darling. This collection perfectly embodies that.

And oh, how could I not mention, dear, all the new music in February! The world's been celebrating the talents of legends like Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift... and oh, The Weeknd. Oh, darling, that music had me dancing until my sequined slippers wore out and even my tutu got tired… and you’ll never see this little drag queen with a tired tutu!

Well darlings, my fabulous time-traveling tutu is pulling me to yet another amazing time period, but let's all make sure to rock those fabulous tutus. And, until we meet again, remember that life, my dears, is a drag race and the best thing you can wear on it… is a pink tutu. Now if you’ll excuse me, my little darling, the world of drag has called and it’s a fabulous, sparkly one!

Your truly,

Emma! xxoo www.pink-tutu.com
