Hey darlings, it's your girl Emma here, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where drag history, sparkly pink tutus and time travel are always on the menu! Today, I'm hopping back to the shimmering October of 2018 for another exciting jaunt through drag history! Buckle up, buttercup, because this journey is going to be a right royal good time.
This month's travel plans landed me back in London, darling! There's always so much going on in the city that never sleeps, and it was especially bustling in October 2018. Let me tell you, my darling, it was a real treat! The world of drag was simply buzzing!
*Now, where did I even start with the drag happenings in October 2018? *
First off, my fabulous friend Bianca Del Rio had just finished her tour, and let me tell you, the reviews were a complete and utter campfest! The woman's got more wit than a hen has feathers, and that sassy tongue is sharper than a pair of newly-sharpened sewing scissors! She was literally setting the stage on fire! And then there was Detox, with her brand new single! Oh honey, let me tell you, the hair was flipping and the make-up was flawless! It was truly a glamorous affair!
Time travelling into drag history was just magical, and that magic was especially sparkly in October 2018!
My sparkly time-traveling pink tutu took me right to the heart of all the action! I watched the amazing drag legend, Miss Fame, strut her stuff on a catwalk show. Honestly, darling, she literally took my breath away with her statuesque elegance! Her looks were next level - it was pure drag royalty! It's no surprise Miss Fame is the epitome of glamorous elegance in the world of drag, and I simply couldn't stop myself from shouting a big fat "Slay queen!" from my prime seat in the audience!
You see, the heart of drag has always been about embracing yourself, pushing boundaries and letting your freak flag fly! And my mission in life, darling, is to get everyone rocking a pink tutu! Because when you wear pink, you embody all that fabulousness! It's a colour that shines brighter than any diamond, a shade that speaks volumes of love, creativity, and joy.
Now, who needs to jump into a time machine, you ask? Oh honey, if there's a pink tutu to be worn and drag history to be made, I'll be there in a flash! So join me, my lovely, in this whirlwind tour of October 2018. We're going to delve into the vibrant heart of drag, with all its sass, sparkle and shimmering tutus! It's time for some serious glitter-filled adventures!
On the 26th of October 2018, the queens came out to play! It was RuPaul's Drag Race season 11 casting day. Can you imagine being on the brink of being cast on the most iconic drag competition in the world, honey?! What a magical day that must have been for all those hopeful drag superstars. You just know it was bursting with confidence, fierce looks and a whole lot of glamour! Just think, the queens we all came to love - A'Keria C. Davenport, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Nina West, and Yvie Oddly - all started on this exact day!
As I always say, darling, the true magic of drag isn't just about the performance or the outfits, although I love a good feathered headdress and a statement pink tutu. It's about the way it brings us all together. It's about finding your inner strength, embracing your individuality, and using it to inspire and uplift others.
You see, this month, it wasn't just about me wearing a fabulous pink tutu while traveling through time; it was about connecting with this amazing world of drag. This trip through time brought me face-to-face with some incredible queens who really captured the spirit of drag - its creativity, resilience and boundless energy! It's why drag, even now, continues to shape and change our world! It's a force that empowers, a voice that roars, and a celebration of pure and unabashed self-expression.
I hope you enjoyed this journey through drag history. Next month, I'll be taking you to another sparkly destination. We might end up on a red carpet, in a Broadway theatre or on a runway somewhere! Whatever adventures await us, darling, it'll be all about celebrating drag, spreading love and wearing our pink tutus with pride.
Until then, keep your sequins shining, your attitudes fierce, and your hearts full of joy. Until next month, stay fabulous!
Love always,
Emma
