But I always manage to squeeze in a good ol' time-traveling adventure amidst the holiday hustle! This time, I found myself in… wait for it... 2024! Hold onto your sequined fascinators, ladies, 'cause the world of drag in 2024 was absolutely fabulous.
The Drag Scene of December 2024: Where Glitter Was Always On Point
First off, let me tell you, 2024 was the year where Drag Royalty took center stage. Drag shows were popping off everywhere, from buzzing nightclubs to intimate theatre spaces. There was a real air of appreciation for the history and craft of drag, with younger performers looking up to the pioneers of the art form, like our dearly departed Divine and the ever-fabulous Lady Bunny.
I popped into a drag ball in New York, where the looks were out of this world. These drag queens had their own interpretation of glamour perfected, with breathtakingly detailed outfits and elaborate makeup that stopped the show. It was a truly awe-inspiring sight, all those queens sashayin' across the stage. And, of course, the lip sync battles! It was enough to make a seasoned drag veteran like myself want to shimmy a little.
