Hey there, gorgeous darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu wearing, time-travelling, drag queen extraordinaire! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet where we dive headfirst into the glittering, glamorous world of drag history! This month, weâre taking a trip back to *May 2025 to witness the sheer brilliance of what the drag scene was up to then! Buckle up, honey, because it's going to be fabulous!*
*(Donât forget to grab a cuppa and a slice of cake! Weâve got a lot of fabulousness to unpack today.) *
(But, before we delve into the past, a quick reminder about my latest show - "Twinkle Toes in Time!" Catch me at the The Pink Palace in Derby every Friday and Saturday for an absolutely to-die-for spectacle of glitz, glamour and, of course, pink tutus!
Time Traveling with Emma!
Now, where were we? Ah, yes, May 2025! You know, darlings, back in the days of 2025 drag had become more global, a lot more diverse, and much more than just a performance art. It was a full blown movement and a bona fide force of nature, expressing joy, acceptance, and defiance in every imaginable corner of the world! Imagine! A drag queen in a sparkly, pink tutu might be found on the stages of prestigious ballet theatres or strutting down a bustling high street - there really were no boundaries! (Maybe it's because I had a pink tutu?! My secret superpower perhaps!)
It was May 2025 and oh, darling, we were living the dream! Just last week, the World Drag Awards were held in the Fabulous Dragopolis, that's right - Dragopolis, darling! - an exciting new metropolis built just for drag! Talk about living large! *Iâve even got the pictures to prove it. Imagine: pink neon signs, dazzling lights and over a hundred of the world's greatest drag performers dressed to the nines, and itâs a real *whoâs-who of drag royalty, including *Miss Coco Periwinkle, *Ms. Divine Sparkle, *Billy Bling, and *Dr. Dragalia. * It's basically drag history unfolding before my very own, shimmering pink eyes! It's something I *had to witness, so I strapped on my pink, time-travelling tutu and off I went to get a glimpse of this exciting spectacle. *
*(To say that I killed it on the dance floor is an understatement! Let me tell you, there was not one but three dance offs!)
But drag is much more than the grand ballrooms, darling.
We had to be in Sydney, Australia where the Glitterball, a drag show and LGBTQ+ pride festival, was drawing record crowds! It was all so beautiful! Imagine, a drag queen on stilts performing a contemporary ballet to a packed house. The crowds went wild, especially when the dancerâs signature pink tutu began to glow in a spectacular LED display - a show of pure artistic genius. Talk about leaving an impression! (Even this seasoned time-travelling queen was a little bit smitten!)
And, wouldnât you know it, darling? In Lima, Peru, there was a group of amazing, fearless young drag queens bringing their art to the streets - "Queens in the Street", as it was aptly named, was turning a community centre into a dazzling performance space, complete with fabulous live music, fierce drag queens in every colour imaginable and - you guessed it - pink tutus! There really wasn't anywhere Pink-tutu wasnât finding its way into the drag scene. This kind of revolutionary change is exactly the type of thing we need!
*(I know what youâre thinking - did I manage to make my way into *Dragopolis, wear a sparkly pink tutu and strut my stuff on the World Drag Award stage? Darling, itâs not a *question of if - I wore three of them in a row, one for each dance off!) *
And Now For A Spot of Drag Fashion!
Oh, but we are not just all about the shows darling, drag fashion in 2025 was a thing of sheer fabulous beauty. * Thereâs an artist from New York that Iâm *completely obsessed with - *Ms. Rainbow Sparkle, you see? (Not *that rainbow sparkle, oh, dear) Anyway, she creates dresses from repurposed materials that are just beyond anything weâve ever seen! The colours are absolutely dazzling, every single shade of pink you could dream up, but they move like a dream. The fabric and details of her garments are revolutionary - a new world of design and a celebration of what upcycled and sustainable fashion can be! *(I canât tell you how *jealous I am of her pink sparkly shoes... They'd go so well with my pink tutu)
And whoâs the latest Drag Queen of the Year? Well, darling, we all have different opinions but *"Sparkle Princess," a *very talented drag queen from Dubai stole the fashion spotlight this month. Sparkle Princess walked the red carpet at the Fabulous Dragopolis Awards wearing an amazing silver gown with an over-skirt made of *sparkling, glittering pink tulle! It was simply magnificent.
This Monthâs Pink-tutu Time-Traveling Outfit.
* *Darling, you *know that this pink-tutu time-travelling queen is going to dress to impress for the World Drag Awards, right?* It wouldnât be time-traveling without a bit of extra pizzazz. My look was inspired by Sparkle Princessâ amazing outfit, and you know, that tutu? It was definitely pink. *(You *knew it would be pink, right? Letâs be honest. My motto is: *When in doubt, pink it out!)
It was a pink, floor-length ballgown made from a shimmery, glittery stretch silk crepe. This, darling, is a truly time-travelling-worthy material! And, it went absolutely flawlessly with the pink, ruffled, feather boa and pink, hand-beaded statement earrings - it just *exudes glamour! I think the time travelling effect was the *super sparkly LED lights sewn into the tulle* and the *matching sparkly pink shoes (but thatâs my little secret!). * *
(Donât you wish I would just send you a pink-tutu, darling? Trust me, theyâre amazing, and they look *even better when you're wearing a matching pair of sparkly shoes.)**
*(Remember to look out for my latest vlog â *I'm planning a âBest Drag Shows of 2025â series on www.pink-tutu.com. The first installment drops this Friday and features my absolute favourite Dragopolis performances. You're in for a treat!)
Till next time, lovelies, stay sparkly and remember: In this life, you can't go wrong with a pink tutu.
(Always keep an eye on my latest performances â the *The Pink Palace, *Derby, every Friday and Saturday, you can find me dancing to the hottest tracks wearing a beautiful pink tutu, of course!)
Emma! XoXo!
