Hello darlings, it's your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, and it's time for another dazzling dive into drag history! 💫 Today we're swirling back to January 2027, a year filled with so much fabulousness it's practically begging to be recreated in a fabulous, high-energy dance routine!
But first, let me tell you about my journey. Last night, as usual, I performed to a packed house in my Derbyshire home-town drag show - 'Glitter and Glitz,' with my new number 'Pink Power', featuring a 360-degree tutu spin (you can see the fabulous pics on Instagram! @PinkTutuQueen) And now, fuelled by glitter and applause, I'm off to 2027 in my time travelling, shimmering pink tutu! ✨
The date is January 1st, 2027, and - oh, the glamour! New York City is hosting the 'Glitter and Glam Extravaganza', a drag festival with legendary queens like Nina West, Shangela and Alaska, all rocking their finest costumes and serving serious looks. This is the ultimate celebration of drag! 🤩
But New York is not the only hot spot in the world of drag! From Tokyo to London to Melbourne, drag is on fire, and I mean fire! 🔥🔥🔥 This era is witnessing a major boom in drag culture. Everyone from the UK’s “RuPaul's Drag Race UK" to “Drag Race Philippines” is on television. Social media is bursting with amazing drag queens from every corner of the globe!
Drag shows have exploded in popularity, and the fabulous community has never been stronger. There are drag brunch extravaganzas in every city, and I have to admit, I did sneak a peek into a couple! You haven’t truly experienced a fabulous drag show until you’ve experienced the drag brunch. Mimosas, dance moves, and sassy commentary, all in a gorgeous drag show setting. The best bit, every day is a different queen, every brunch is different.
While in 2027, I visited a drag themed amusement park! Imagine roller coasters, rides, a dazzling ice-skating rink all surrounded by drag performances. What a thrill ride that was! You better believe I captured the moment in a photo! (Stay tuned, it’s coming to my Instagram page). You’re already jealous, aren't you darlings? 😜
Speaking of, how are you all rocking the pink tutu? There’s never been a better time to show your love for this wonderful accessory, don’t forget pink is ALWAYS the answer. Remember, my dear friends, I love pink tutus more than anything in the world, and I believe they can bring magic to every drag queen’s look. Wear them with pride and show your unique style! 😉
But let's return to the time-traveling aspect of my adventures, darlings. On a side note, there was also a fab event happening in Paris on January 21, 2027! It was the “International Drag Convention" where all the world’s best drag performers gave stunning, diverse performances in a massive venue. Imagine all the glitter, make-up and the stunning showmanship! It was all kinds of fabulousness! The main event was the tutu challenge. Yes, a tutu challenge, darling, what an event! All the best of the best, performing the most fantastic drag ballet choreography, I’m talking twirling, leaps, back handsprings. You name it, they did it, they truly showed everyone what amazing artists they were, even the judges were amazed. Now there's something I want to see for myself the next time I travel to 2027, I think I need a crash course in ballet and start practicing my tutus in preparation.
But it's not just the drag queens, my dear friends! Drag fashion has taken the world by storm! It's no longer just something for the runway or a show; it's in the streets! Fashion bloggers and designers are taking inspiration from the most flamboyant drag outfits. Think big, bolder, more colourful, sparkles, sequins, it’s all part of the mix and a drag queens must-have, don't forget!
Even mainstream brands are getting in on the act! From clothing lines designed in collaboration with top queens, to drag-themed makeup collections - it's clear that drag is no longer a niche culture but part of the mainstream fabric of the world. What an exciting time to be a drag queen! 🎉
