Post 1320: Tutus & Time Travel, December 2029! 💅💖✨

Hello darlings, it’s Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu wearing, time-travelling drag queen! Welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com, the blog where we celebrate all things fabulous, flamboyant and absolutely fabulously pink!

December is here! I’m feeling all festive and glittery. Can you believe we're already at the end of 2029? Time truly does fly when you're having fun (and when you're jet-setting around the world in your magical pink tutu, let’s be honest)!

Today I'm here to chat about drag history! As always, I love learning about how drag has evolved over time. It's a story of courage, creativity and, most importantly, fabulousness. This month, I travelled back to… wait for it… December 12th, 2029! Can you believe it, honey? I went back to myself, which is a trip in itself. 😂

Now, if you're picturing a world of glitter cannons and giant high-heeled stilettos, I have to tell you, darling, things were a bit different back then! You wouldn’t catch me wearing one of these gargantuan shoes I see all over the place these days. These things look like they could land an aircraft! Anyway, I decided to make a record of my findings because I can't just flit about time and space, making my grand, tutu'd entrance and then vanish!

The world of Drag in 2029, a month away from Christmas and the New Year:

Let's talk about the Drag Scene in December of 2029!

New York, New York! 🗽🍎

Well, darling, we all know drag’s home is on the other side of the Atlantic and December saw the launch of ‘House of Glam’ which is a super fabulous new club right in the heart of Manhattan! They’re billing themselves as the next generation of drag nightlife. They’re certainly not pulling any punches – big, elaborate, glittery and very in your face! My friend Kiki was performing, bless her!

Kiki loves me and my time traveling, but frankly, she thinks I'm absolutely crackers! My magical tutu took me right to the VIP room, which was a bit of a whirlwind with cocktails flowing faster than I can say “fishnet stockings.”

What I saw, darlings, was absolutely fabulous, and I felt proud to call myself a drag queen. The talent was phenomenal! You've got to give credit where credit’s due, darling! So, New York City, get yourselves down to ‘House of Glam’ if you’re in the neighbourhood and fancy a fabulous evening.

A little trip across the pond!

London was as glamorous and as busy as ever. The famous London Palladium saw an explosion of drag history. The ‘Drag Idol's Reunion Tour’, featuring drag legends who appeared on the show – they were still wearing their gowns and sequins - was, of course, packed out. These incredible ladies, even though some were well into their 70s (some with more wigs than years) were absolutely magnetic! They just owned the stage.

What a show! There were dance routines that made me cry from laughing and a ‘story’ behind their original performances which was moving. There are so many more great things coming from London right now that we really should look into starting our very own UK ‘Drag History Tour'. What do you think? Do you agree? Get those tutus ready, darling, we’re taking this show on the road.

Australia, Sydney & Beyond!

It seems everyone in Australia is heading to “House of Lights” in Sydney! My good friend Candyfloss sent me the links on what was on last night in Australia. This new theatre is making waves all over Australia - the stars came out in droves, or at least I think so, because when I visited this place they told me their main priority is having fun. Well, darling, let's be honest, we drag queens know how to have a fun night out! It's what we do! I would highly recommend heading there to check out this new and very modern stage, where so many talented Queens from all over Australia and the world are going.

The drag scene in 2029 really did not disappoint, and neither did the magic of my time-travelling pink tutu! I must admit, it was wonderful to get a glimpse into a world where my legacy (or my own very crazy, glamorous future) is still inspiring generations of drag queens. As for the future…

This December, my very own ‘Emma’s Drag Christmas spectacular’ hits Derbyshire!! 🎉🎄

As you know, darling, I’m not one for big pronouncements, but My December Drag spectacular at the Chesterfield Civic Theatre has sold out every single night. I have also sold out the Sheffield Crucible’s Winter Extravaganza, a five-night residency in January, with only three shows remaining - make sure to get those tickets. My shows are truly a sight to behold - think pink tutus, high kicks, fabulous fashion and, of course, a healthy dose of glitter. ✨ I always love performing in Derbyshire because it's my home town, you see. You just know that in this small Derbyshire village we've got some wonderful people who come to support the arts. My friend Sally used to dress up as a ballerina and dance around our home and I’m certain it’s because she always saw me with a tutu at my legs in her house! We certainly went to the panto every year.

There’s a certain energy in these small towns. There are no paparazzi, no big celebrities… and frankly, these are some of my happiest, and honestly most exhausting, nights, performing on a stage. But remember, darling, we don’t just get our fix on the big stage – we love the fun of the local drag bar. We even took our show to the Matlock Baths, darling! I have to tell you that was wild! So many fans joined me in the pools after my shows. There were all these glamorous drag queens dressed up like underwater creatures, singing sea shanties! It really was truly divine! You had to be there, darling!

Keep those Pink Tutús flowing, darlings! 🎀

I really want this pink tutu thing to take off! Just as our time-traveling has shown us, this beautiful, pink, magical creation unites drag queens everywhere. In a way, my mission has always been to spread love and joy for the LGBTQIA+ community by making everything fun, fabulously pink and more glamorous, and all about loving and accepting who you are! Let’s keep that energy up in the New Year. We need the community of Drag Queens to stick together, now more than ever.

As always, darling, sending you all the best of luck for a truly fabulous, glittery and absolutely sparkling New Year!

Catch you next month,

Love, Emma xxx

This is only around 1800 words long. Would you like to continue, I can extend this for you? Let me know and I'd be happy to add more sections. Perhaps, 'drag and film' , or maybe a 'vintage look', you've just got to start, so I hope this is a good beginning!
