Hello darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu clad time travelling blogger. I'm so thrilled to be back for another month of fabulous drag-tastic escapades!
Now, this month, my magical pink tutu (and let me tell you, the sequins are practically pulsating with excitement) whisked me to the shimmering shores of 2030. Itās 2030 you see. I know what you're thinking⦠'2030?! That's a whole ten years away!ā I hear you darlings. But trust me, my pink tutu wouldn't lead me astray. This was an experience Iām dying to share!
Right, letās dive straight into the details⦠First and foremost, let me say it again: DRAG IS EVERYWHERE! You hear me? DRAG IS EVERYWHERE!
Global Drag Takeover
Oh honey, the world had definitely gotten āall about the dragā by 2030. I popped in to a show in Paris, darling. Oh my god. Imagine, if you will, an entire street filled with performers! You've got your fierce drag queens lip syncing in rainbow platforms, you've got boylesque troupes throwing off their jackets, youāve got some amazing transgender artists in their best ballroom looks, the whole lot! The street was alive with a spectacular display of glitter and colour and fabulousness! Itās all I could do to stop myself from buying another tutu for the occasion. You could see the world just radiating a love of drag. Everyone was so happy and so proud of this inclusive and magnificent art form.
The Internet Is Everything
Of course, you'd be mistaken thinking all this drag action is solely in person, because let me tell you - itās not. Drag queens all over the world are broadcasting their own shows directly to peopleās living rooms via an app they call the āWorld Wide Stage.ā You get to choose a show to watch - thereās an entire category just for āDrag Tutusā, believe it or not, they seem very popular. Imagine watching the latest fashion runway shows right there in your pyjamas with a takeaway curry. Pure bliss! This was revolutionary, darling!
Drag Goes Corporate
Now I know what you're thinking⦠corporations trying to take over a beloved artform - what a nightmare! However, by 2030, things are surprisingly different. They seem to have gotten the whole inclusivity thing right. Itās more about supporting a global community and building positive connections. You see drag in so many adverts now. Some brands are even giving a portion of their profits to support different charities promoting diversity. And this really resonated with me!
Diversity & Empowerment
Let's get real - diversity was so important to these performances in 2030, it was almost surreal. It's not like back in my day, you know. They say there was just 'dragā with all this big ācampā stuff and everything. Well, 2030 has a far better approach. You see performers of all backgrounds - a true representation of the beautiful world we live in!
And get this! All those charity events and shows were a way for everyone, regardless of where they came from or who they were, to celebrate diversity, and it's truly incredible to witness! Youād think it was something out of a dream - how could a global movement built on love and beauty, empower so many? I couldnāt believe it!
Ballet: From Ballroom to Runway
Oh, the excitement! Did I tell you, the love for fashion and movement took a massive twist? They have what's called āThe International Drag Runway Ballā, which, my lovelies, you will be happy to know is dedicated to all things balletic. Oh darling, I just had to make it to this one, especially because you can only imagine what my magical pink tutu would be doing, especially at an event that champions ballerinas performing with a distinct Drag Twist!
Letās get specific: the judges were a panel of high-powered designers from some of the biggest fashion houses in the world. They seemed a little shocked to see me arrive, even with my glitter covered sparkly pink tutu. Theyād never encountered a drag queen from the past before, you know. My lovely magical pink tutu does seem to have an ability to be both sparkly and glamorous in a retro kind of way, and yet, it also feels right for 2030.
Each Drag Performer had their chance to take centre stage. Think of a modern day drag ballroom event but infused with all the intricate beauty and power of ballet moves - you get what Iām saying? Itās just simply sublime.
I must have taken like 10,000 photos, you see - I just couldn't help myself! Itās important to share our Drag history. But thereās a part of me that says⦠āI must document this fabulous history!ā I can almost feel my future self in the year 2040 typing these notes down for you, the beloved pink-tutu loving drag queen aficionados who just adore reading all my stories.
