Hey darlings! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing time-travelling ballerina of dreams! It’s the 2nd of September 2030, and I'm back with another thrilling trip through history - or rather, future history, as we’re whizzing right into September 2030, honey! And what a fabulous time it is to be alive - or rather, time-travelling!
As always, I popped on my enchanted pink tutu, whispered my magic time-travelling incantation (which, by the way, always involves a dash of glitter and a generous helping of "sass to the max!") and voila! We landed right in the midst of the vibrant, sizzling world of drag in the year 2030!
Firstly, I must tell you all about the drag scene in 2030! It’s epic. Drag has truly exploded and diversified. We're seeing drag performers from every walk of life - singers, dancers, comedians, poets, even…wait for it…astrophysicists! Imagine a drag show where they talk about the origins of the universe whilst simultaneously serving face! It’s shocking, darling!
You all know I'm a huge fan of anything glamorous and feminine, and this September in 2030 is dripping with it! The trends are out of this world (pun intended).
We're talking holographic sequins that change colour with every movement! (Think Tinkerbell meets Lady Gaga, only way more spectacular). And don't even get me started on the feather headpieces! Feathers of all shapes and sizes - plumes, quills, even the occasional peacock feather (although they’re really hard to get hold of now). I'm sure you can imagine my delight! 💖
As always, I’m dying to see all the new talent! My first stop was "The Electric Prism", this futuristic, shimmering drag club nestled in the heart of New York City. And oh my! The talent there was breathtaking. Imagine if Bianca Del Rio and Divine had a baby - that’s what this place was like!
One particularly talented drag queen who stole the show (and my heart) was a sassy queen named "Aurora Borealis". She’s a real breath of fresh air - a blend of playful and powerful, with a sharp wit and an incredible sense of humour. Imagine the charm of RuPaul and the sheer power of Bianca Del Rio… with a dash of glittery mischief. Her costume was divine! Think a rainbow of holographic sequins, flowing into a cascading cape of white ostrich feathers - breathtaking. And let’s not forget that iconic beauty mark over her right eye!
And did you hear about "The Drag King Championship"? You see, the drag scene in 2030 is all about inclusion. They have "drag kings", queens, "non-binary performers" – everyone can express their creativity, and you know I am here for it! The energy in those clubs was insane! They've completely redefined what drag means, opening the doors to every type of expression - so exciting!
Of course, I had to do some shopping while I was there! It wouldn't be a time-travelling adventure without a little retail therapy. This era in 2030 is all about sustainability.
It's all "eco-couture" now. That means fabulous, avant-garde designs using recycled materials! Honestly, I could never have imagined! Recycled plastics, metallic mesh made from discarded CDs, fabrics crafted from ethically sourced bamboo, even upcycled plastic bottles… and all made into breathtakingly beautiful drag costumes! I snagged a magnificent neon-green sequined dress (from a recycled plastic!) and a divine holographic cloak (from old CDs!). This future fashion really is mind-blowing!
Next on the agenda: seeing "Drag On Ice" in the magnificent London Coliseum! Imagine the sheer spectacle! I mean, can you picture queens doing flips and triple axels, all while serving looks in breathtaking costumes? Imagine the glamour, darlings! It's the new "Ice Age" with an extra dose of drag magic! And the soundtrack! Think “Vogue” meets Tchaikovsky – fabulous, isn’t it?
After my "Drag On Ice" adventures, it was off to see a live performance of "Shakespeare on Stage, Dragified". Imagine: "A Midsummer Night's Dream" but instead of a fairy queen, you have an ultra-glamorous, fierce queen (in a tutu of course!), complete with an incredible costume! I felt a touch of déjà vu in the air - after all, it's how drag first got me obsessed with fashion and theatre.
And lastly, I popped over to see a show in the famed "Drag Haus" in my home country of England, nestled right in the heart of Derbyshire! What a fantastic local drag scene they have! Full of friendly faces, it felt so welcoming and warm. I even saw a local drag queen in a pink tutu! (Not quite as fabulous as mine, naturally). I managed to share a few time-traveling tips (mostly on how to create fabulous pink tutus, naturally!).
As the night faded, and my time travel shenanigans were drawing to a close, it was time to wave farewell to this glittering future. But before I zipped back to my own time (wearing that divine pink tutu, of course!), I wanted to share one final observation.
The drag scene in 2030 is simply stunning - it’s bold, creative and uniquely its own! It's a scene that thrives on inclusion and innovation. I mean, what else can I ask for?! It was pure magic.
The whole time-traveling experience in 2030 reminds me that fashion is an art, and art has no rules. The world of drag in 2030 shows just that. So remember, darlings: be brave, be bold, and always wear your pink tutus with pride! And if you want to see your own future in drag, grab your own tutu and channel your inner glitter goddess - anything is possible, after all!
See you next month, with another fabulous Pink-Tutu journey! 💋✨
