Pink Tutu Time Travels: Post #1359 - March 2033: A Trip to the Future of Drag!

Hello, darling! Emma here, ready to whisk you away on another time-travelling adventure! March 2033, how delightful! I bet you're wondering what fabulous events this date holds. Well, grab a cuppa, darlings, and settle in, 'cause this one's a real hoot!

I popped my pink-tutu-fied self straight into a massive Drag Spectacular taking place in... drumroll... Dubai! Yep, darling, that's right! Imagine, all that glittering sand, stunning skyscrapers, and a whole gaggle of absolutely divine Drag Queens rocking their stuff. I tell you, I haven't seen so many sequins in one place since my nan's Christmas dinner!

This futuristic show was like a shimmering, glittering rainbow thrown at the face of a disco ball! I'm talking aerial acts in tutus (we love to see it!), laser beams, holographic projections, you name it, it was there! The audience, absolutely buzzing with excitement, had their jaws on the floor and their hands clapping like mad! It truly showcased the evolution of drag, showing just how much the artform has grown and continues to be a place of bold creativity and joy!

This particular show had a wonderful, modern take on "classic drag". It was so wonderfully subversive - imagine if those early, trailblazing drag icons from the '50s and '60s had had all these gadgets at their fingertips, they'd be out of this world! But in the best possible way!

Flashback to the fabulous fifties: You know I'm always buzzing with a chance to pop back to the early days of drag. You see, before this art form became so globally embraced, it took true courage to walk the path of a Drag Queen. These brave pioneers carved the way for every Queen we know and love today.

The '50s in New York City! I had a ball at a "secret" drag party hidden away in a speakeasy. It felt thrilling, almost risky - a hidden jewel waiting to be discovered. You couldn't help but feel a certain sense of excitement knowing that every little, whispered word in this place felt like a challenge to societal norms. Imagine the bravery and artistry that would have been needed just to dress, let alone perform! I was lucky enough to meet some fabulous drag legends of the time! What icons! We even tried out their fabulous fashions (after getting permission, of course!). The looks they curated were so ahead of their time! A stark reminder that when it comes to Drag, true style has always transcended every era!

Future Forward: This month I popped back to the 21st Century! Yes! The good ol' days of YouTube drag videos, fierce queen beauty queens, and the first signs of Drag's explosion into mainstream media! It's so exciting to see how much the internet contributed to making drag more visible and accessible. It allowed people all over the world to share and connect over a love for this artistic form. And how wonderful that the beauty and power of drag continues to thrive and evolve.

Looking ahead

And so my loves, with this fantastically fabulous trip through the timelines of drag, itโ€™s made me realise that the artform, just like myself, never ages, it's eternally re-imagining and evolving. From the secretive early days to the mainstream acceptance we're lucky enough to enjoy, drag has always been about self-expression and joy.

You know what I believe, darlings? Weโ€™re in the Golden Age of Drag. More and more people are embracing the beauty of drag, accepting and celebrating it. Itโ€™s a reminder to keep rocking our own unique sparkle, be courageous in expressing ourselves, and share our joy with everyone! And yes, everyone deserves a pink tutu! Now, who wants to help me build a time machine to reach 2043 so we can get to the next Drag Queen Spectacular?!

Keep an eye out for the next blog post and, until then, remember: you're dazzling, darling, and always, always, be true to yourself!

Love and rainbows, Emma xx
