Hey darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, time-travelling drag queen, Emma, back with another adventure from the glamorous annals of history. Buckle up your glitter belts and grab your favourite feather boa, because today we're taking a trip to April 2035, a time when drag has reached new, dazzling heights, and trust me, it's everything!
My trusty, pink time-traveling tutu took me right to the heart of New York City, which seemed like the epicentre of fabulousness this month! I had to get myself to the drag ball, of course - a shimmering extravaganza of performance art and fierce fashion! The theme was "Interstellar Drag", so imagine dazzling gowns, spacesuits, and alien queen looks! Oh, it was such a breath of fresh air, a magnificent celebration of all things glittery, outrageous and unique!
The Queen of the Stars: Now, darling, I’m not one for playing favourites but... you just HAVE to hear about this incredible queen who I met. Imagine an iridescent, feather-winged warrior, who literally shot sparkles from her fingertips while doing a perfectly executed double pirouette, while reciting Shakespeare, and then breaking into a dazzling dance number on a gravity-defying platform!
Honestly, her performance blew the roof off! You'd never guess the incredible talents she possessed - a truly modern-day drag goddess, ready to rule the galaxy in a cloud of glitter!
But New York was only the beginning, my lovelies! The 2030s seems like a whirlwind of creativity and drag's reached a whole new level. You could find an incredible drag show on every corner, from a ballet-themed production in London's West End, with real ballet dancers joining the queens, to a hip-hop and electro drag performance on the streets of Seoul!
It was incredible seeing how far the world has come in embracing drag. The whole world seemed to be celebrating the unique artistry, creativity, and sheer brilliance of drag queens everywhere, a real sign of social progress and acceptance. Oh darling, the drag balls! Each city I visited had its own monthly Drag Ball, from the underwater mermaid themed balls of Tokyo to the high-tech, holographic projection balls of London! The imagination and creative freedom that drag offered seemed to know no bounds.
Speaking of fashion, darling, oh the fashion! In Tokyo, a troupe of drag queens called the 'Kawaii Koi' performed in giant, pastel-coloured geisha outfits that were pure art. Then, in Paris, we saw haute couture designs with intricate embellishments, paired with flamboyant, high-fashion tutus – it was literally a ballet performance, with drag as its inspiration! Talk about couture! I’d say my mission to get everyone wearing a pink tutu is on its way, darling!
Oh, my diary is already bursting with ideas for future tutu designs after what I saw! Seriously, 2035 was truly inspiring, and I am already counting down the days till I can time travel to a new month and a new world of drag!
And Don't Forget The Street Shows: You wouldn't believe the street performers I saw! Drag shows in parks, interactive drag performances in shopping centres, and even pop-up drag shows in cafes, pubs, and even libraries, spreading joy and a sprinkle of glamour wherever they went.
The message of inclusivity and acceptance shone through every drag show I witnessed, highlighting that this truly is a movement built on love, kindness, and a shared passion for making the world a brighter, bolder, more colourful place.
Remember, dear readers, the magic of drag is alive in every corner of the world, so never stop being yourself, always be brave, and never be afraid to twirl in your pink tutu!
See you next month, darlings!
Xoxo,
Emma
