Ooh darling, how do you do? Emma here, your pink tutu wearing, time traveling, drag queen blogger extraordinaire, back with another exciting glimpse into drag history! This month, my lovelies, we're whisking ourselves off to the glittering, glamorous, fabulous year 2036! Oh, darling, the year 2036! I simply canât wait to tell you all about it!
This month, my little loves, my time machine of a pink tutu whisked me right to 10th October 2036. Now, Iâm not one to spill the tea too early, but Iâll just say this - it's a right old rollercoaster of a time, darling! It was positively brimming with amazing, beautiful drag history and moments I know you're just itching to hear about!
My arrival in 2036 was quite something. I popped into existence in the heart of New York City, a dazzling burst of pink in a dazzling city of bright lights. Oh darling, this place was a drag queenâs dream! The buildings were positively dripping in neon signs, every shop window a masterpiece of fashion and sparkle. And oh my dear, the outfits! There were cyberpunk queens serving space age chic, drag kings with hairstyles that made my wig envy them, and every shade of pink under the sun on display. It was a visual explosion of delightful queer expression, absolutely sensational!
Now, letâs chat about what the world of drag looked like in 2036. Oh my darlings, it was truly a time of drag coming into its own! In those days, the line between âmainstreamâ and âdragâ had pretty much disappeared. Drag wasnât just a performance, darling, it was a lifestyle! You had your âeveryday queensâ living their best lives in glitter and feathers and, get this, they were embraced everywhere. It felt like everyone was celebrating, whether on stage or strolling down the street. It felt fabulous, darling! A world of glitter and acceptance, what more could a girl ask for?
But back to the 10th of October. My first stop had to be a Drag Ball held at a legendary venue called "The Glittering Globe." It was a spectacular event darling, packed with stars, big wigs and even bigger attitudes! They held contests for best costume, best dance, best makeup, and best attitude. It was truly a night to remember, especially seeing the fierce young queens who were making their mark on the world of drag. They were daring and inventive, full of imagination and passion! It was a reminder that drag, darling, will always be evolving. It's always pushing boundaries, and always will be a canvas for creative expression.
While at the âThe Glittering Globe,â I ran into the legendary drag queen "Venus Flytrap," known for their glamorous fashion and spectacular make-up artistry. Darling, they told me about their "Flytrap Foundation," which helped to create and fund Drag Arts schools all over the world. They believed in making drag accessible to everyone, and it's a truly wonderful vision that I find very inspirational. It reminds us all that drag isn't just about being fabulous. Itâs about being a community. A community full of self-expression, support, and acceptance!
But it wasnât just New York where the drag world was bursting with glamour. In London, the "Queer Palace" was a new immersive drag theatre experience, taking audiences through a night of storytelling and showstopping performances, with some of the UKâs top queens taking centre stage! Imagine my excitement, darlings! It was just the sort of place a time-travelling pink-tutu-wearing drag queen would want to see. Oh, and darling, I heard the food there was delicious too!
But darling, it was in Paris that I discovered the drag revolution truly felt like it had become international. That day in 2036, a huge, rainbow-coloured parade celebrating all things drag took over the Champs-Elysees. Imagine the beauty, darlings. Imagine the colours, the dance routines, and the costumes! Thousands of people joined the parade, celebrating their love of drag. It was truly something special.
Now darling, donât think for a moment I was forgetting to shop. Oh darling, no, no! On 10th October, 2036, a new âGlitter and Glamourâ store opened up in Paris that showcased incredible drag queen inspired couture. Think feathered gowns, diamante tiaras, and pink everything! There were stunning vintage pieces alongside dazzling, futuristic designs, it was a complete drag fashion lovers dream. Honestly darling, it's not very often you see such beautiful drag-inspired fashion that feels timeless and edgy. They also had the most gorgeous selection of glittery body glitter. It made me want to paint my whole world pink.
My travels werenât confined to cities, darling, oh no, no, no! My pink tutu carried me right into the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. On 10th October, 2036, the annual âDerbyshire Drag Extravaganza" was in full swing. This was a joyous outdoor event where everyone got involved with their own unique style of drag. It was just lovely to see all of these amazing and unique performances in such a peaceful and beautiful location! Oh, and donât get me started on the delicious homemade cakes!
Now, my sweet lovelies, it wouldn't be a time-travel blog if I didn't bring home some wisdom to share. My trip to 2036 was truly an eye-opener, showing me a future of acceptance, celebration, and the continuing power of self-expression. Drag had not just come into its own, darling, it had become a force of love and creativity across the globe. It showed me that being yourself, loving yourself, and wearing your heart on your sleeve will always be beautiful.
So darlings, until next time, wear your pink tutu with pride. Let it shine a little light, and let your imagination run wild. Because as I always say, being unique is truly fabulous, my loves!
Much love, Emma
