Darling, hello and welcome back to another glorious adventure through the annals of drag queen history! It's Emma, your ever-so-pink, tutu-loving time traveler, back with another sizzling story from the glamorous archives. Now, strap yourselves in, lovelies, because this time, we're heading back to…drumroll… 11th November 2037! It's been a wild ride, this whole time-traveling thing, and my little pink tutu has been holding up rather well - let's just say it’s seen a lot more glitz than glitter bombs in a London drag club.
Time Travelling Back To 2037Oh, the fabulous fashions! 2037 was just everything. There was an eclectic mix of space-age and neo-Victorian going on - and as always, the queens slayed it. Imagine metallic mesh body suits paired with floor-length tulle skirts, all embellished with luminous glow-in-the-dark beads. The whole thing was giving "cyberpunk ballet" and my soul was singing!
The big news that day, darlings? The "Electric Mayhem" drag tour had just wrapped its UK leg. Now, this wasn't your average run-of-the-mill drag extravaganza - oh, no, darling, these queens were seriously groundbreaking. Think high-voltage holographic projections, robots performing a choreographed tap routine, and even some bioluminescent makeup! I felt like I was watching a future-retro-futuristic fever dream!
A Quick Look at The "Electric Mayhem" Tour“Electric Mayhem" showcased these four amazing, stunning drag queens -
Valentina Stargaze: The resident galactic superstar of the troupe! Imagine Bjork channeling an extraterrestrial queen. Her voice, honey, was like pure velvet, and she could literally bend light with her costumes!
The Oracle of Ox: I swear, darling, the Oracle was so charismatic she could stop a traffic jam just by looking around the stage! And those platform boots were killer. Their makeup was a thing of beauty, using intricate holographic makeup designs - totally giving cyberpunk vibes. They served both drag looks and strong feminist energy at every performance.
Cyber Diva: Imagine an electronic, pop music queen of drag, the modern day equivalent to the music icons like Cyndi Lauper. She really gave "powerful pop" and made that stage sizzle!
Dr. Electric: They truly were a genius of the stage! Their routine was an incredible mix of science fiction, punk and vaudeville. This fabulous queen combined an intricate narrative, live performance, lighting and sound into one beautiful show stopping finale. The crowds went wild!
Catching Some Glam in The UK Capital
I, of course, managed to see the “Electric Mayhem” tour when it came to London. London has always been my home away from home in time travel. The show was fantastic! I think it may have had an even better crowd response than their show in Manchester! The atmosphere at the London show was electric. The crowds cheered at the queens on stage as the queen performed an eclectic mixture of modern pop tunes and techno. It really was something special and definitely added a memorable twist to my 2037 trip.
Time-Traveling Tutus for AllIt wouldn't be a true "Pink-Tutu" adventure if I didn't sneak a little fashion advice in. Look, 2037 was all about re-imagined retro looks, darling. We're talking glittery hair extensions, bold neon colors and statement jewelry. It's really all about playing with different fabrics, textures, patterns and designs. My favorite? A little, glittery rainbow striped tutu I picked up from a vintage store in Manchester. I thought, "If they do it in the future, so can I!". So let’s have a bit of 1980s disco funk fashion in 2023! Think of the colours of electric pinks, purples and blues combined with some bright white metallic trims - go on, dare to make a statement! I did!
Oh, and another tip? If you're feeling a little bold, a touch of space-age-style eyeliner can take your look to the next level. Imagine glitter, a neon purple cat eye or even a blue graphic look to make a big fashion impact! Trust me, you'll have all the glamour of the "Electric Mayhem” with this amazing vintage feel - just a little touch of future retro!
