Now, let me just tell you, I’ve been saving this one up. 2040 is like, the future I pictured myself as a kid. All that futuristic tech and shiny stuff? It's kinda real! My pink tutu, I tell you, was shimmering like a supernova as we landed, surrounded by skyscrapers that looked straight out of Star Trek. Okay, so picture this. I'm walking through this giant futuristic city, decked out in a new sequined creation, courtesy of the fantastically talented tailor in a city centre that reminds me of something out of Blade Runner. All I've got on is a killer tutu and some lashes. As I turn a corner, I see… A Drag Show?! But not just any show.

It's a "Drag in the Metaverse" extravaganza. Oh honey, get ready for a jaw-dropper! It’s in some futuristic hologram hall and these queens are popping off on some virtual reality platforms. They've got avatars from all walks of drag: glam, camp, butch, fierce, you name it. Each one has a holographic tutu with a mind of its own, changing colours with the beat!

And can you believe it, darlings? One of these fabulous queens starts telling a history lesson! She dives into drag’s evolution – all those iconic moments, the big personalities, the groundbreaking shows. But wait for it, here's the best bit - she references ME! Yes, little old Emma. The time-traveling, tutu-loving queen from the good old days, 2023. Oh honey, I about fainted. This isn't even a joke, I'm on this platform in a metaverse drag show - it's surreal!

Then, we're taken to an exclusive after party! I mean, who even knows what happens in those after parties? Let's just say the queens had me blushing, they were so fabulous! Honestly, these girls were talking “Metaverse” fashion with the same zeal I would use talking about finding the perfect feather boa. That’s my girl power.

We’re talking cyber-dresses that morphed with emotions, jewels programmed with constellations. Honestly, I couldn't decide what to be more impressed by: the outfits or the fashionistas. I mean, we're not even talking drag in the way I used to think about it. This drag is all about digital expression and boundary-pushing.

These queens are so clever, you know. They've turned drag into a whole new art form, something completely beyond the ordinary. They've embraced the technology. It's a different generation of drag queen with a completely different set of rules, and they’re killing it.

We spent the next hour getting schooled on new-age drag. Turns out these ladies do this whole holographic thing on stage every night, it’s become a major movement. They have a massive drag metaverse community that’s got more followers than TikTok and Twitter combined. Who knew the future was all about online communities? I thought they’d just be using flying cars by now!

All of it is incredibly empowering to see – the digital stage allows for even more experimentation and pushing boundaries. The internet has definitely changed the landscape, and it's something I find endlessly inspiring.

They’re experimenting with materials, too - I'm talking organic dresses with glowing plant matter, or even clothes that change color depending on the audience!

You've got your more traditional stage productions that feature some dazzling new holographic techniques, which allows the performers to project their image across the entire theater! They’re using a whole new world of possibilities – holograms, 3D projection mapping, you name it. This futuristic stuff is definitely going to influence a whole new generation of drag queens and kings!

Oh, and don't forget the drag queen cafes! It's not all nightclub fun. You can get your drag fix while enjoying your morning coffee – talk about community. And then there's the metaverse. This online scene is changing everything. Drag is becoming a global, 24/7 experience and, quite frankly, I'm loving it!

In 2040, they have everything – from immersive drag experiences where you’re completely surrounded by virtual reality drag queens to drag fashion brands, and, my darling, even the first drag queen politician! This is just the beginning for the metaverse, and with these talented and fabulous queens pushing boundaries and changing the world, there’s nowhere left to go but UP.

And this is how my adventure in the year 2040 ended, leaving me with a big grin and my tutu feeling extra fabulous! There are still so many other time periods for me to explore, so many stories to tell and even more amazing drag queens to meet. And hey, it wouldn’t be a pink tutu trip without some shopping.
