Hello darlings! It's Emma, your fabulous fuchsia-loving friend, and I'm back with another episode of Pink Tutu Travels, my monthly jaunt into the dazzling world of Drag Queen History! Today, we're zipping through time to a date that's already a landmark in Drag history - 2042! Now, if you've been following my blog, you know my favourite colour is pink and, frankly, 2042 was the year the world caught up with me! This was the year that Pink, our dear, dear Pink, officially went global!

I was actually in Los Angeles, performing a 15 minute set of high kicks and dazzling routines as part of the annual "Drag Dreams" festival. This particular year, they had the theme "Rainbow Reflections" where they were celebrating all the iconic drag queens of the last 30 years, and it was everything! From the incredible costumes (all those neon colours!) to the makeup artistry, and the powerful performances, it truly felt like Drag was blossoming like a flower in a greenhouse - gorgeous and full of potential.

While I was basking in the Californian sunshine and performing for my darlings, my time machine tutu transported me to Tokyo that very same evening. Let me tell you, the Drag scene in Japan is one to watch! Imagine the most glamorous, stylish, modern drag shows with dazzling visuals and unique stories. I was there for a legendary event, the "Drag-a-thon" - an extravagant, nonstop drag performance that ran for 24 hours straight.

It was exhausting, darling! But utterly fantastic. There were performers from across the world - and everyone was dressed in the most wonderful pink tutus you could imagine! From fluffy feather affairs to crystal-encrusted tutus and shimmering sequins - it was a Pink Utopia, like a vision straight out of my most flamboyant dreams. This is when it hit me - we had a real global movement on our hands, my lovelies. Pink wasn't just my colour anymore - it was the colour of Drag, the colour of expression, and the colour of solidarity.

My trip wasn't over! My sparkly tutu was still eager for more adventures and transported me straight to London the next morning. My dearest darlings! London drag was truly flourishing - think huge theaters packed full of glitter-crazed audiences and the biggest, most extravagant drag shows I'd ever seen. It was like walking into a magical world. There was the grand finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and a dazzling show called "Drag Queen Follies" taking place at the famed Royal Opera House! It was the very first Drag performance at the Royal Opera House and truly cemented drag as a recognized art form on a global level.

This year in 2042, I realised Drag Queen History was not about dates or places anymore. It was a living, breathing thing - constantly changing, evolving, and inspiring. It was a rainbow explosion, a dazzling storm of creativity, and most of all - a big pink love affair!

So here’s what I realised about the year 2042:

  • Drag Queens across the globe were uniting in a colourful symphony of expression.
  • Drag had officially stepped onto the world stage and was receiving international recognition and praise.
  • More importantly - Pink tutus had finally found their place in the world!

If you're like me, and are eager to experience a world where Drag Queen History and pink tutus rule supreme, why not embrace your inner fabulousness? Go to a drag show, or even better - put on your most stunning pink tutu and join in the global dance of expression. It's time to celebrate the art, the artistry, and the fierce spirit of drag, darling. It’s a journey that’s worth every pink step of the way!

Now if you'll excuse me, my dearies, it’s time for me to go and find the pinkest, most flamboyant tutu on the market, just in time for my performance tonight at the "Tutu Time Tea Party" in Sheffield, England. It's an annual drag tea party in a park, and it’s the perfect spot for meeting my fellow Drag Queen besties in the Derbyshire area. Until next time, darlings, may your life be filled with glitz, glam and, of course, the glorious shade of Pink!

Love,

Emma 💕

P.S. Do you have any tips for me for this month's "Tutu Time Tea Party" in Sheffield? Do you think a glitter-sprayed tutu with feathers will be too much for a daytime performance? I’m always eager for more style inspiration!
