Pink-Tutu.com - Drag Queen Time Travel Blog: Post #1478 - February 2043: A Pink Tutu in the 21st Century!

Hello my darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu wearing time travelling drag queen blogger, back with another month’s adventures in fabulousness. February 2043 – where to even begin?

Let's get this month’s post underway with a story that might blow your wigs! Imagine, if you will, my little ol’ pink-tutu, swirling through the vast expanse of the 21st century! Cue the dramatic music and flashing lights. That's right darlings, this month I embarked on a whirlwind tour through history! I was even honoured to be guest judge for a big time competition show at The Drag Ball in Tokyo.

First, I headed off to…well… nowhere in particular! The pink-tutu decided to take a jaunt across the great expanse of time – with no set destination! Let me tell you, that was an adventure in itself. You could say that this time travel thing was a bit... 'fly by the seat of your pants!' but I love it. You get to meet the most fascinating characters and experience such remarkable moments.

But First, Tea! I think every true drag queen can relate to the sheer thrill of good old fashioned gossip and a brew. Now, when I say ‘tea’, I’m not just talking about your cuppa of hot bevy – though that's certainly delightful! I’m referring to the fabulous art of spilling the most sensational gossip with fellow queens. What better way to catch up with your mates than a cuppa with a sparkly, pink cup of cheer?! This trip landed me right in the heart of London's West End theatre district during 2015 - oh how I adored it!

Now you may know that I’m all about ballet-inspired drag, and honestly, I was in absolute drag heaven here! So many inspiring looks: tulle skirts galore, glittering costumes, and the most beautiful pointe shoes you could imagine – and the performers? Oh my! Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna, just to name a few, they absolutely slayed the stage! Just to imagine the history that the building of the Dominion theatre held, the many acts that have performed here - what a time machine for our fashion and theatrical roots! I just love the theatre - such beautiful historical locations.

I couldn’t leave this amazing theatre scene without soaking in as much glamour as possible. I went straight to Covent Garden! If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing this gorgeous market, put it on your travel bucket list immediately! The colours and scents of the fruit stalls are a delight, and there's something about the ancient Victorian architecture that brings back the grand Victorian era. And to top it all off? There was the best drag brunch ever at the famous Opera Tavern! Just amazing. I must say the British in 2015 truly understood how to enjoy a day in London’s famous heart.

I must tell you - all those amazing stage performances – it’s just so inspiring to see drag flourish and gain such acceptance! It's a far cry from what it used to be! You know me – I can't resist going on and on about how far we've come. But seriously - there’s no need to shy away from discussing how hard we fought to make drag happen in the past. In fact, it’s important to learn about the challenges we faced and how we overcame them, so that we never have to endure it again. That’s how we stay strong, empowered, and in touch with our roots – and it’s a key lesson to share with all the fantastic drag hopefuls out there! Let's take a peek at this momentous drag history, shall we?

Back to the Basics: You know, darling, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. We’re talking 1960s! Imagine a world without a rainbow flag! It’s mind-boggling! In the US, the very first "Gay Pride" celebration was not without opposition! Oh the struggle is real and this just encourages my passion to inspire all who choose the beautiful world of drag. The bravery and perseverance of the Drag Queen's before us, they just remind me of why I choose this amazing path.

And as I went about this timeline tour, you can't go without taking a visit to 1920's New York! Oh darling, the drag and fashion just stopped me in my tracks. It’s hard not to get inspired by this era – where creativity was in full bloom and anything went. Imagine the iconic era of "Harlem" - a period filled with jazz music, amazing dancing, flamboyant expression. What better place for a pink-tutu to appear!

Oh! It seems I stumbled upon an awesome drag history event. Now darling - get ready because this one really set my fabulous fashion wheels turning! I’d popped over to 1990 and landed right in the midst of “Wigstock” - the drag and music event that absolutely revolutionized drag culture! Cue Patti LaBelle, Divine, and Lady Bunny - just epic entertainment, oh and did I mention that the amazing RuPaul himself performed there? You see - this is the power of the pink-tutu, landing me right into one of the biggest celebrations of our history, this is why I love this magical thing.

In a flash I was back at my Derby flat, in February 2043 - it was such a quick dash! But oh, my precious pink tutu, what an adventure! And the 21st Century? Darling, let’s just say, we're soaking up the good life, shall we! The Drag Queen world is more glamorous and dynamic than ever, just amazing. Drag became a phenomenon on a global scale, truly celebrating individuality and diversity. You're now hearing amazing talent come through on huge stages from the USA, Asia, and the EU! Honestly, it’s like the whole world joined together under the banner of love for drag – and we’re loving it. The World Drag Association has gone global – what a time for us! The Drag Awards were hosted this month in Paris – my darling, what a night to be at a Grand Ballroom – the show sparkled! They did such a fabulous job this year!

My darlings, this is what makes the world of drag so vibrant. It's a universe of self-expression, confidence, and above all inclusivity! It's an amazing thing to see. The global drag movement – a constant celebration of all things gorgeous, fabulous and truly a love for all! This beautiful, bold, and wonderfully diverse culture keeps me constantly inspired and pushing forward for all to share, and embrace a pink-tutu dream.

Now, I just want to say how much I’ve enjoyed bringing you all of my time-travel escapades this month. And remember, every month, we embark on another thrilling adventure together!
