Oh my darlings! How's it going, my fabulous fam? This week Emmaās pink-tutu has been zooming around in a right royal fashion! Honestly, it was one of those times when the universe simply said ādarling, get your glittery bum on a time machineā and so I did, for the whole world's entertainment. Now, I am absolutely gagged, but letās talk about the big day: 06 June, 2043 - what was the big deal, I hear you asking, why was this date SO important? *You ready for this darling?
Well, that very day, in the grand city of Dubai, I witnessed the legendary, RuPaulās Drag Race UAE launch its first ever season. Oh my GOD, I swear my pink-tutu did a full 360 on its own it was that exciting! This competition, the absolute creme de la creme of Arab Drag, was going to set the scene for an entire generation, so I just had to be there!
Oh my darling, and what a glorious season it was, from start to finish! Every week the girls had me GAGGGING, from the stunningly chic gowns, the sassy lip sync battles, and of course the sheer, jaw-dropping, brilliance of the queens - a whole host of diverse talents and looks ready to steal our hearts, each one a star. I was right in the crowd as the judges announced the crown - an absolute gem of a performer - let me tell you, the whole audience went *wild, my tutu practically danced the hora! And the winner is, the utterly fab, drumrollā¦
Okay, you'll have to check the site, I canāt spoil it, darling! š Just pop over to the official website, but don't say I didnāt warn you: it's a real tear-jerker - I might've been hiding behind my feather boa by the end. Honestly, I was practically in tearsā¦
Now letās get back to that glorious pink-tutu - what else could it have done? Well, I told ya: the time-traveling machine took a proper tour. We're talkin' the global village! You could say I had a bit of a ādrag adventureā - this wasn't just a single day's journey, no way, darlings!
After the Middle Eastās biggest Drag Race show, I knew I needed some fabulous retail therapy so hopped over to Hong Kong, because darling, that is where it's at. Hong Kong, the ultimate Drag hub, for all those iconic Drag outfits! I snagged some truly magnificent creations, let me tell you: sequined headbands, neon fishnets, you name it - I practically became a human disco ball. Then I hopped on the next high-speed train to Paris, and that is where things got REAL, darlings.
This, folks, is the heart of Drag history! That little old French cafĆ© I went to? Well, that's the actual location where one of our beloved Drag Mothers did her very first performance way back in the 1950s! A bit of a blink for the eye back in the day, but oh-la-la - she started it all! Imagine a beautiful blonde French queen in a flamboyant tutu, performing to the cheers of the Parisian underground. That's Drag for ya! Iād be fibbing if I said I didn't tear up a bit standing in that cafĆ©! It really made me understand how far the drag world has come, from little cafĆ©s in Paris to a world stage!
By now, the time traveling pink-tutu had made a trip to South Africa where I saw, I KID YOU NOT, the most extravagant Drag Ball EVER! It happened right on the beach at sunset! Can you imagine?! All those colours! You would be completely wowed at the breathtaking beach sunset. Imagine golden light cascading over the biggest, *the boldest, the brightest Drag Ball on this Earth* - it was magic. My own outfit had a good old time with some of the sassiest local designs, but what took my breath away? The performers had created a full, immersive theater experience - it wasn't just Drag - it was an unforgettable production.
Finally, it was time to take my little pink-tutu back to my Derbyshire home for a proper English cuppa (donāt tell anybody! I love my home comforts.) Honestly, after all that Drag magic, it felt good to relax and remember my humble roots! Itās always nice to get back to those classic styles - even after being swept off my feet with all that 2043 extravagance! I reckon the drag queen community will keep moving forward from strength to strength after what we saw this month. From the United Arab Emirates, to the iconic scenes in Hong Kong and Paris and finally, to a stunning sunset drag ball in South Africa - drag has definitely taken over the whole globe!
Just goes to show: you know, this really isn't a job, but an amazing way of life I think - we live and breathe our drag hearts! Now, to get my feet up and maybe whip up a little afternoon teaā¦. and maybe, just maybe get into that magnificent pink-tutu. What do you reckon my loves? You know what you need! Join the global movement in the greatest, most stunning garment EVER invented - pink tutus - because thatās where the Drag-hearts are!
Emma xoxo š
