Pink-Tutu.com: Blog Post #1591 – 2052 07: A Flutter Through the Ages

Hello my darling darlings! Emma here, your resident pink tutu wearing, time travelling ballerina! It's the 7th of July, 2052, and boy oh boy, you won't believe where this little tutu has been twirling!

Before I spill the tea on this month's jaunt, let me tell you – you’ve got to try the new raspberry ripple latte at "Drag-n-Dine". I've been living for this new, sparkly, pink mug they have! Just imagine – a pink tutu, a raspberry latte, and the latest drag show... The ultimate in glittery, joyful living!

Now, back to my adventures… July is always a good time to be travelling the time-stream. You see, this month, the world celebrates… that's right! The World Tutu Day! That's right, all you fabulous folk – the 7th of July, a day dedicated to celebrating all things frilly and feminine! Oh, my tutu! I can’t tell you how much I've been living for this day. You know my philosophy: The world needs more pink tutus. And this day? This is our day!

And you won't believe where my tutu took me this time! To 1950s Paris!

I just adore 1950s fashion. The Dior New Look was so, SO chic, all that tulle, and the way the women would shimmy… It’s a real lesson in drag elegance, darling! It turns out that July 7th was actually the opening night of a small cabaret on the Rue des Abbesses called ā€œLe Coq d’Orā€! And yes, I managed to sneak myself into the audience for the opening performance. I won’t lie, the opening act was a bit rough… It seems like it was all very vaudeville, but I can appreciate that style. Think can-can kicking and glamorous cabaret! They were all dressed up in the classic ā€œcan-canā€ costumes: feathery, frilly… It was very camp! The audience was absolutely smitten, but honestly, my dears, a few of those ladies could really benefit from a good pair of ballet flats and a decent spin class! But what I loved was that these were just ordinary folks, with a love for a bit of good old-fashioned drag. They were having so much fun!

From Paris, my time travelling tutu took me to a drag queen showcase in 1990s Tokyo! Ah, the 90s, darling. All those colourful fabrics, big hair, and amazing makeup! Let's just say I was feeling all sorts of inspired by the bold makeup looks. Those queens knew how to turn a face! I remember being mesmerized by these futuristic drag performances at a nightclub called "Showroom", which had incredible neon lights! A queen named Akiko had this dazzling makeup style with metallic eyes and perfectly-shaped lips… It was so vibrant!

And the crowds were going wild for their J-Pop Drag performance! Imagine… It's almost impossible to put it into words. They used so much glitter! Honestly, I think it was snowing down onto the audience… They were really putting their heart and souls into their performance, all in a fantastic and completely unexpected Japanese pop music twist! They didn’t let the ā€œlimitationsā€ of 1990s Tokyo get in the way of being fierce, which is just so admirable.

As I'm typing this, I’m already getting that itchy feeling… The feeling that’s telling me to get out of the house and catch a show. Maybe ā€œGlitter Ballā€ in Sheffield this weekend? The rumor mill says Diamond Dee-va is going to be hosting a ā€œTutu Tuesdayā€ on August 1st, *with a performance by the one and only, *"Tulle-ette"! She's absolutely legendary… Remember, ā€œGlitter Ballā€ has that gorgeous, huge stage space, They always put on an absolute feast for the eyes. And let's be honest - a ā€œTutu Tuesdayā€ event is right up my alley. My fellow Derbyshirians – I think we’ll be meeting there for this month’s Pink Tutu Gathering.

Anyway, back to our World Tutu Day celebrations. I wanted to finish off this post by leaving you with a little reminder: Embrace your inner femininity, celebrate your unique expression, and always, always be a bit playful. Put on that pink tutu, darling! Life’s too short for anything else. And, as always, remember – if you ever need someone to make you feel like you can fly… just put on your favourite pink tutu. We’ve got to spread the magic! Until next time, stay sassy, stay sparkly, and keep that pink tutu dreaming!

Emma, x
