Hey lovelies! It's your girl Emma, back with another adventure from the magical, shimmery, pink-tutu-clad world of Drag Queen Time Travels! This month, Iāve been having an absolute ball of a time travelling toā¦wait for it⦠2053!
Now, darling, don't you think weāve all grown up a bit by this time? We're sashaying in a new age of drag where tech and performance collide! It's like the future is practically wearing a pink tutu! Oh darling, you should see the outfit I'm sporting this month! My custom 3-D printed tutu, powered by nanotech, changes colour with every flick of my wrist, and I've got a voice modulator that allows me to sing five octaves! Oh, and did I mention the built-in drone that can launch and stream holographic images of me in high definition?
The futuristic glitter really hit me right away when I landed in the bustling metropolis of what used to be London (it's been renamed New Avalon darling - don't you just love the celestial names?) and was whisked into the heart of a shimmering futuristic drag show - a technicolour explosion of light, sound and⦠robots!
Hold onto your feather boas! In 2053, Drag has truly gone cosmic. This drag show, held in a cavernous space called the Arcanum (all about those mysterious names!), was truly dazzling. The set was like an illuminated dance floor from a holographic dream with dancers that looked like they stepped out of Avatar - completely flawless! Imagineā¦an elaborate 3D printed outfit, with moving lights that reacted to the music, and synchronized holographic projections with a digital makeup look that was like a kaleidoscope in the most incredible way! This girl can't stop thinking about those futuristic eyelashes - the details!
The whole experience had me in awe - and a tad bit envious. I really wished I'd thought of those holographic extensions earlier! The performance itself was beyond words! The stars of the show were "Binary Queen" and "Cyber-Cleo."
Binary Queen is a robo-drag sensation - a living, breathing testament to drag's ever-evolving nature! Think: Cabaret Voltaire meets a cutting edge fashion show, complete with glowing body parts, and the ability to spin like a top (I was very impressed)!
Now, Cyber-Cleo, the sassy cyborg queen with a voice smoother than liquid mercury (truly a divine voice darling!) had me transfixed. She spun electronic music, glitched beats, and then dropped those laser beams! Laser beams darling! Imagine! She ended her act with a digital holographic display that reflected off her shimmering holographic outfit, a real technical feat that made her look like a shimmering god/goddess from the future! The applause was deafening, and everyone had their phone screens up capturing the amazing digital display. I've got to confess, it felt a little strange having no physical image to shareā¦just a glowing, ethereal presence!
Now darling, what is 2053 without a good gossip, right? After the performance, I decided to dive into the digital The T, a virtual platform with more news than a newsstand. I got the tea - in digital form of course, on all the hottest Drag events! Apparently, thereās been a new show called Dragoverse that has just launched and everyoneās raving about it! A futuristic immersive drag experience where the audience and the performers can interact within a virtual reality space? Now that is what I call the future! And in this futuristic space, everything is completely personalized to each person - all their makeup, their outfit, their look, and their performance. The future of Drag darling is literally immersive and personalized.
The gossip column was bubbling over with another tidbit. The iconic New Avalon drag brunch has seen some fabulous new faces ā like "Circuit Queen" (I'm trying not to snatch when I say she's totally ripped) who incorporates digital prosthetics and wearable tech into her show! She is, apparently, the first drag queen in New Avalon to have created an app that simulates the sensation of wearing a corset during a show! Imagine, dear reader - that's how immersive 2053 Drag has become! And to think, I thought I'd had it rough with trying to find a good drag makeup sponge!
Darling, before I head off back to my era, I had a slaying time at a Drag Fashion Show hosted by the House of Nebulae, which you know, is the biggest name in 2053 fashion. Think avant-garde looks with holographic fabrics, LED lights sewn into the couture and the most fabulous shoes that change colour to the rhythm of the music! Oh darling, you should see their holographic heels! Holographic heels! Oh, my heart.
Thereās really something to be said for drag being truly interwoven into everyday life in 2053, from interactive theatre to virtual performance spaces to drag brunches and fashion shows. I saw men, women and non-binary folks alike sporting tutus (with their individual spins on them, of course), expressing themselves with flair and creativity. Even the news anchors were rocking bright colours and sequins, giving us a real sense of unity through a shared passion for style and expression!
One of my absolute highlights was stumbling upon a āpink-tutuā movement, dedicated to promoting inclusivity and encouraging self-expression through tutus. It's so beautiful to see the world embracing the spirit of our favourite dancewear. They have workshops, events, and even an app! Oh, my! So much pink! *And of course, they invited me to host a drag show for them and that is just going to be *the most fantastic time! I might have a new outfit custom made just for the occasionā¦a little somethinā somethinā with LED lights and 3D printingā¦what do you think, dear reader?
Now, darling, back to the matter at hand - the message youāre here for! From 2053ās fashion trends to immersive Drag performance spaces, the message remains the same ā to celebrate self-expression through fashion, beauty, and performance. Donāt be afraid to push boundaries, darling! Go out there and unleash your own inner pink tutu - after all, the only limits are the ones we set for ourselves.
