Hello, darlings! It's your favourite Derbyshire-born, tutu-tastic, time-traveling drag queen Emma here, bringing you the latest from the fascinating world of drag, through the lens of my ever-spinning, always pink, time-traveling tutu! This month, my lovelies, we're zipping through the annals of drag to the year 2055!
It was such a thrill, you wouldn't believe it, being in the year 2055. Oh, the things that have happened in the world of drag! Technology's played a huge role, which has allowed us to truly see the international community of queens come alive. And, believe me, it's ALIVE! I think you're going to be in for a shock as I unveil the drag world of this glittering future.
Firstly, the world's embracing pink! Not just in tutus (although those have reached a whole new level of artistry and are the biggest trend, naturally) but in general fashion and style. I spotted a darling, oh-so-fashionable chap in a fabulous hot pink leather suit and sparkly platforms the other day, absolutely killing it! The world is becoming a more colorful, accepting, and ultimately more fun place, my darlings. It really was a breath of fresh air!
Now, to the heart of the matter: Drag shows in 2055! This year's been incredible for Drag, you see, there's so much diversity and artistry around the world! It's a time of such experimentation, so exciting. In Dubai, I caught a mind-blowing show, all done with holographic projections and LED lights. It was like being inside a video game. They called it 'DragTech' and my darlings, it really was next level.
Then there's the incredible "International Drag Fashion Show" in Tokyo, it's become the annual hot ticket to attend. I met this fabulous Japanese queen called Luna, who was sporting the most incredible couture tutu you've ever seen! It was covered in origami swans and glow-in-the-dark embroidery. I had to grab her contact, I mean, we all know what my pink-tutu-wearing motto is... gotta keep those collaborations going!
One thing that struck me, darling, is that Drag has become less of a 'thing' and more of a way of life. I saw people strutting their stuff on the street, no stage or backdrop required, simply radiating confidence in their vibrant and colourful attire. We are truly in a time of pure self-expression. This new, open, accessible approach is utterly empowering and has resulted in the creation of Drag communities that have never been seen before. And I must admit, my darlings, this new wave of dragsters is giving us 'old guard' drag queens a run for our money! They are talented, funny, and creative, and I am so excited to see where this movement takes them.
This trip brought me to New York, of course. What can I say, the energy is just different there. The New York Drag scene is a vibrant beast. There's a real 'punk-rock meets runway' attitude in their drag scene, full of fierce expression, incredible makeup looks and a whole lot of drama.
In Berlin, oh darling, they are all about storytelling through drag. It's deep, emotional, political drag. Some queens are using the art of drag as a tool to address issues that matter. Their performances are powerful, thought-provoking, and leave a lasting impact.
Right now, I am on my way to the Drag Circus of Oz! The queens, oh my, the queens, They're pulling off stunts that defy gravity. I was talking to this one queen named 'Glitter', darling, who was swinging from a trapeze whilst singing a rendition of 'Pink' by Aerosmith - incredible, simply incredible! The world has truly gone 'drag mad'.
My darling, 2055 is such a thrilling time for the art of drag! From fashion to performances, this vibrant scene is bursting with color, confidence and sheer joyous artistry. Remember, whether it's Dubai, Tokyo, New York, Berlin or a small town in Derbyshire, drag is for everyone. Don't forget to keep an eye out for that 'pink-tutu' revolution! Let's paint the world with fabulous colors and twirl through life!
Now go out there, my loves, embrace your unique self, and shine. Remember, the future is pink, and so are the possibilities! Keep spreading the love and keep those tutus twirling,
See you all next month for more dazzling, daring adventures through time!
Love,
Emma xox
