Hello darlings! It's Emma, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu-wearing time traveller, back again for another fab-u-lous installment of your favourite drag history blog! This month, I've whisked myself to the fabulous future, a mere 38 years from now, and what a time it is to be alive!
Get ready to shimmy your sequins and prepare to be dazzled! Today, my darling dears, weāre delving into the glittering world of drag in the year 2055!
My pink tutu swirled with excitement as I arrived, landing softly amidst a bustling crowd of fierce queens and flamboyant gents.
The air crackled with anticipation and the music was everything. From the first thumping beat of a remix of a '90s pop banger (that you would totally recognise, trust me!) to the infectious energy pulsating through the air, it felt like a giant, glitter-strewn party just waiting to explode.
As a massive fan of drag theatre myself, my heart almost burst out of my corset when I found myself standing before an awe-inspiring, neon-lit drag performance. Think massive holograms of iconic drag superstars dancing in synchronicity with the live performers. Iām talking holographic versions of RuPaul, Bianca Del Rio, and the legendary Divine ā what a spectacle! The holographic tech was mind-blowing, but the live performers' energy was out of this world. Every move, every facial expression, every drop of stage presenceā¦ divine.
This theatre truly was the cutting edge of the drag scene, with an avant-garde mix of live and virtual performances, that pushed boundaries, broke expectations, and sent shivers of pure, unadulterated joy down my spine.
The entire performance had an interactive, participatory feel, with the audience encouraged to express themselves and get involved with the show. From playful laser light interactions to audience members being digitally superimposed onto the giant holographic projectionsā¦ the future really is the future! It's certainly not your gran's bingo hall, darling!
After the performance, I grabbed a post-show cocktail with a delightful trio of drag kings. They were all decked out in edgy, gender-bending ensembles with an abundance of cool, futuristic tech in their outfits, as though a haute couture designer and a futuristic scientist had teamed up!
While we chatted, we were joined by a group of drag queens who were gearing up for a gig later that night. It seemed to be a global drag competition that they were about to strut their stuff in. Talk about intense!
This whole night just reinforced what we all already know - the power of drag lies in its diversity, inclusivity, and relentless pushing of boundaries!
Of course, no trip through time is complete without some shopping! Now, you know I live for the ultimate in drag fashion. So I went absolutely wild in this massive futuristic fashion emporium, bursting at the seams with avant-garde designs, 3D-printed outfits, shimmering bioluminescent fabrics ā and of course, the latest, cutting-edge tutus, the kind you would just die for! It felt like a magical, swirling explosion of pink, glittery goodness, just made for this fabulous time traveller!
Overall, my little pink tutu-clad journey to 2055, October 10th was one I won't soon forget!
What I found particularly fascinating is that while the performance spaces and the technology had drastically changed, the spirit of drag remains just as vibrant, powerful, and important as ever. It's about challenging expectations, celebrating self-expression, and creating unforgettable experiences for audiences and performers alike.

Some Drag Queen History tidbits:
While we're talking about the future, letās have a little chat about dragās history. This is what I love to delve into. The drag queens who were avant-garde long before it was cool. Hereās what I uncovered about the drag scene of 2055:
- The drag queen phenomenon of āDragificationā ā where mainstream celebrities were being replaced by ādragifiedā holographic versions. The āQueen-ifiedā versions got so big and so iconic that the ārealā celebrities were seen as merely a pale imitation of the holographic queens.
- This decade, in the early 2050s, saw the first openly trans drag queen win the coveted āGlobal Drag Supremeā title.
- The explosion of āImmersive Dragā where the theatre was interactive and integrated with the audience using VR technology - just imagine drag, where youāre able to get transported to a world of dazzling spectacle ā from fantasy lands to a cyberpunk future - all through immersive, VR technology!
- And get this ā the original āPink Tutuā was trending in the fashion world!
Oh, how things have evolved and come full circle, in the world of drag! And I have so much to look forward to in my time-travelling tutu!

- This month, I'm on a whistle-stop tour through Europe! This weekend, I'll be at the iconic āHouse of Glitterā Drag Show in Prague, which promises some phenomenal dance performances ā I can't wait to soak up the vibrant, creative energy!
