Post 1657: Ooh La La, 2058 - Time Traveling Tutu's Take on Drag!

Helloooo my darling darlings, it's Emma here from the ever fabulous Pink Tutu! I'm bursting with excitement to whisk you off on another time-travelling adventure, and let me tell you, 2058 did not disappoint! I shimmied and shook my way into this glittering year in my trusty, time-travelling pink tutu, and boy oh boy, the world of drag is even more fabulous than I could have imagined!

Before we delve into all the fabulous happenings, I simply must confess that the sheer quantity of pink in 2058 nearly made me swoon! Everywhere I went, there were pink hues from the sky to the buildings to, you guessed it - the most incredible, magnificent tutus imaginable! Even the holographic billboards promoting drag shows were shimmering in all shades of pink. My heart just skipped a beat. Pink, it truly is the colour of fabulousness!

Speaking of drag shows, let me tell you - the energy was absolutely electric! Imagine the fiercest queen you've ever seen, amplified by a hundred! I'm talking lip sync battles where the holograms actually interacted with the performers, runway looks so breathtaking they were practically art installations, and dance moves that would make your grandma gasp in admiration!

But beyond the glitz and glamour, what truly amazed me was the sheer diversity of drag. I saw performers pushing the boundaries, embracing new styles, and exploring every nuance of identity through the art of drag.

My favourite drag event was this massive, futuristic Pride parade in Tokyo, Japan. Imagine a colossal neon rainbow arch, fireworks shooting pink glittery sparkles across the sky, and drag performers from every corner of the world showcasing their unique talents. It was pure, unadulterated, joyful madness! And guess what? The entire parade was sponsored by a company called 'Pink Tutus for Everyone!' Talk about dreams coming true! They were even handing out complimentary tutus to anyone who wanted one. Needless to say, I went absolutely ballistic. And of course, I had to try out a couple myself! I can tell you, I looked utterly radiant!

Another moment that tugged at my heartstrings was the debut of the first ever fully-automated drag queen bot, aptly named "Miss Glitters!" This robo-queen had every single skill a human drag queen had - she could lip sync, dance, perform magic tricks, and even give sassy shade. Although, I did have to warn her not to over-shade her fellow robot colleagues! (It turns out that shade-throwing doesn't quite translate to robot language yet, even in the futuristic world of 2058).

Of course, no journey through the world of drag is complete without a bit of historical context. I mean, we all have to understand how the amazing drag queens of 2058 became so fabulous, right?

So, while I was strolling around, I came across the coolest museum in Berlin dedicated to drag history. From the first recorded mentions of drag in Ancient Rome to the birth of modern drag in the 1920s and beyond, they had it all! The best part was the exhibition dedicated to the legendary Marsha P. Johnson, which really brought it all home for me. I can only hope my small time-traveling blog can leave a little footprint on this glorious world of drag, too!

My dearest lovelies, as always, I just had to squeeze in a little time to see some dazzling shows and do some fabulous shopping. I mean, what's a time travel trip without a little retail therapy?

And what did I discover, you ask?

London was practically dripping in fabulousness! There were so many shows running it was hard to choose. I caught a spectacular production at the Globe Theatre, which had transformed into a glittering drag extravaganza. It had everything - aerial acrobatics, witty dialogues, a fabulous plot line (which involved an ancient Egyptian Queen falling in love with a drag queen from the future), and it even included holographic special effects! Honestly, you wouldn't believe how dazzling it was! Afterwards, I found myself at the West End, where every store and boutique had the most outlandish, dazzling outfits on display, practically beckoning me to try them on. The shop assistants were fabulous, offering makeup consultations and helping me to find the perfect pink tulle for my 2058 collection.

I even stumbled across this tiny vintage clothing shop in Covent Garden that had the most incredible collection of old tutus from all over the world! There were beautiful lace ones, dramatic black velvet tutus from the 1960s, even some old-school sequined numbers with feather trims! And the prices! I practically had to be dragged away from there, literally!

Oh, my loves, my trip to 2058 has left me totally buzzing with excitement. I think I might even start using the words “shocking”, “divine” and “frockin' marvellous!” to spice things up. And remember, my dears, I can't wait for all of you to discover the wonderful world of drag! Embrace the colours, embrace the glitz, and remember to embrace the incredible history and power that makes drag the beautiful artform that it is. And above all else, make sure you're wearing a pink tutu while you do it. Remember, that's what it's all about - celebrating the love of drag with the colours of pure, unadulterated fun!

Until next month, lovelies! And don't forget, check out www.pink-tutu.com to catch up on my previous blog posts, join in the conversation, and let me know your favourite moments from your drag adventures! Now, I'm off to practice my pirouettes...and try on some of the glorious, amazing pink tutus I brought back with me!

Ta-da!

Yours in glitter and pink tulle, Emma
