Oh, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time travelling drag queen, back from another fabulous journey through the annals of drag history. And oh honey, let me tell you, today's trip was positively breathtaking! It was, of course, all in the name of spreading the gospel of pink tutus, because we all know that pink tutus are the key to unlocking a more beautiful, more fabulous world.
So, strap on your fabulousest heels, grab a sparkly cocktail, and let's delve into the dragtastic happenings of 2060!
April 4th, 2060 - A Dream In Pink (Tutu) ๐ ๐ ๐
The world was abuzz with drag, oh darlings! Imagine, if you will, every single corner of the globe was embracing the magic of drag! This particular day was a hoot, because, I'm telling you, this was the day where everyone's fabulous side came to play. There were parades, workshops, balls, and performances all over! Think of all the fabulous ensembles - and pink tutus of course - just parading through the streets. Honestly, it was a vision - my pink heart just about exploded!
Paris, Oh La La! - A Runway to Remember
The French always know how to do a drag show, don't they? Oh darling, my first stop was a little trip to Paris for their legendary "Drag ร La Mode" fashion competition. Imagine a runway show, like the grandest, glitziest fashion gala you've ever dreamed of, filled with all kinds of dazzling drag artistry. There were looks inspired by every decade of drag history. A stunning drag king channeling David Bowie? Check! A fierce femme in a glittered gown? Absolutely! There were bouffant wigs bigger than your head, feathers that wouldn't stop glittering, and such creative use of pink tutus (you could practically feel my pride!)
* Tokyo, Baby - Where the Art is All *About the Dress Up!**
My second stop? Well, you can guess - Tokyo, baby! The city that never sleeps, and that's particularly true when it comes to drag. You have to see the diversity, uniqueness, and sheer artistry! I just love the way they blend traditional Japanese themes with the most fabulous and bold modern drag - think geishas with power pouts and sparkly eyes, but also see this stunning drag king with his neon blue afro and platform boots! Oh my darlings! And guess what? A drag ball themed around "pink tutu" was just happening as I landed in the heart of Tokyo. You can imagine the joyous pink tutued dancers - so graceful, and so pink!
Derbyshire - Back to My Roots ๐๐๐
I mean, you've got to make sure you know what's happening in your hometown, right? It would be unforgivable to miss what was happening in dear old Derbyshire! Now, if anyone knows how to throw a pink-tutu-tastic drag party, it's my fellow Derbyshire folks. And honey, they didn't disappoint. The streets were filled with locals dressed in every imaginable shade of pink, from shocking pink to blushing ballerina pink. Oh darling, there was a flashmob of drag queens with pink tutus! I can still hear the screams of joy as the audience cheered them on - everyone was loving the show!
Global Village - The Beauty of Drag Worldwide
My time travels took me all over the globe, darling! From the soaring, modern steel structures of Seoul, to the glittering golden markets of Marrakech, from the misty rainforests of South America to the desert-kissed dunes of the Middle East. And guess what? Drag wasn't just about the shows. It was about expression. I saw children dressing in pink tutus to celebrate their individuality. I saw people wearing pink tutus to go to the grocery store. I saw politicians wearing pink tutus. And that is real change, oh darlings!
*The Message of Pink ๐ *
For all you out there reading, this is the heart of why I time travel in my pink tutu. I'm here to share that magic with you all - the magic of drag, the magic of acceptance. There's a place for every body in this world, a place where you can dance, be your best self, and make the world more colourful. You don't have to travel through time to spread that magic.
You just need your pink tutu!
Because honey, that's what this life's about: Spreading that glitter and joy one pink tutu at a time.
Until next time, keep shining your pinkest selves!
Xoxo,
Emma ๐
