Pink-tutu.com: Post #1687: July 2060: From Derbyshire to… Wherever the Tutu Takes Me!

Helloooo Darlings!

Welcome back to my fabulous pink-tutu.com. As you all know, I, Emma, am absolutely living my best life here in 2060. Every day is a fabulous adventure as I swan about in my magic tutu, whisking myself off to another time, another place. This month’s destination? Well, I’m not going to tell you just yet - keep those pink glitter bombs primed, because you’re about to be served a right proper drag history surprise!

But first, a quick rundown on what's hot in drag this July. Let’s kick things off with the fabulous International Drag Festival in New York City. Every year, they turn Times Square into a giant pink wonderland, a celebration of all things drag and all those iconic looks! This year, there’s a fabulous Moulin Rouge themed party on the opening night, and there’s a whole exhibition about The Queen of All Queens, Miss RuPaul herself, so I will absolutely be heading there. Don't worry, my lovely followers - I’ll keep you updated with the fabulous gossip and pics - the good ones, the bad ones, the ones you're not supposed to see, you get it.

There’s also some great drag action in London right now, The Drags of Piccadilly Circus is currently presenting an Electric Avenue show featuring every colour of the rainbow! Can’t wait to see it. It’s said to be the perfect blend of camp and political statement - just my kind of gig, dearies. And then there’s a truly dazzling Alice in Wonderland inspired drag burlesque show in Nottingham this month - absolutely bursting with bright colours and a fabulous cast, that is all, just say no more! Oh! And you cannot forget the annual Drag Race of the Lakes, which, by the way, has an entire section for ā€œpink tutus and high-kicks.ā€ It seems like there’s really something for every flavour this July - oh darling, if it's fabulous it will definitely find me in that pink tutu.

And you know, I’m thinking the pink tutus might be the inspiration for my latest adventure in time. Because this month, I’m going right back to the birth of the tutu. Yes, darling, we’re going all Marie Taglioni in our pink feathered tutus and whisking off to Romantic Era Paris. I have visions of shimmering ballrooms, glittering performances and maybe even a cheeky kiss or two from the ballet greats of the era. We’ll explore the fascinating history of the tutus, from the romantic days of tulle and ribbons to the dazzling artistry of contemporary performance - because my loves, the pink tutu truly transcends time and style, right?!

I know some of you are probably rolling your eyes thinking ā€œAnother blog about the origins of the tutu, Emma? Can’t we explore other, say, more manly, topics?,ā€ but it’s time you all embraced your inner tulle-loving, pink-obsessed, twirling enthusiast, like I have. A tutu isn't just a garment; it's a symbol of beauty, a statement of self-expression, and - my dearies - a testament to the unwavering spirit of drag. This month, let’s celebrate the dance, the artistry, and the magic that lives within every twirl of a pink tutu. The true essence of drag: self-expression, artistry and pure joy!

Now let's fast forward back to this amazing July (how on earth has it been July already, time flies when you’re wearing a fabulous pink tutu), and how fabulously camp drag is becoming in this age! This is our era where we truly find that magical blend of fantasy, history, theatrical glamour and, of course, pure self-expression - so let's embrace the magic that lies within every glitter-splashed moment of our draggy universe! I’ve even noticed a fabulous new trend emerging called Cosmic Drag - imagine your wildest dreams realised with sparkly interstellar garments and some extra camp choreography for good measure - all while embracing a dazzling array of diverse performers, talents and perspectives. Drag today, darling, it truly is the epitome of "wear it, rock it, own it"! The time to shine, to strut, to slay!

But now it’s time to get back to my little adventure. I'm leaving you, my lovely readers, with a question. How are you all shining bright with your self-expression in your own world today? Tell me in the comments!

Until next time!

See you all next month for the next pink-tutu.com adventure!

Stay glamorous!

Emma x
