Tutu Time in Barnet: A Ballerina's Guide to Autumn Fashion
Hey lovelies! Emma here, back with another post, and this time it’s all about autumn and the tutus. It's officially sweater weather and the leaves are starting to change into beautiful hues of red, orange and yellow, which just makes me want to twirl! Barnet is particularly lovely this time of year with its parks bursting with colour, and the cosy cafes all ready to warm us up with hot drinks.
As a ballet dancer, my heart beats a little faster when the weather starts to get cooler because, well, I can wear more clothes! That means more opportunities to experiment with different looks.
Pink is my go-to colour, so autumn's muted hues play so beautifully with my pink tutu obsession. This year, I'm channeling vintage vibes and adding pops of vibrant colour for a look that's both chic and fun.
Tutu Time in Barnet: The Trendsetter's Guide to Tutu StyleLet's be honest, who doesn't love a good tutu? They're like the epitome of feminine and graceful and always make a statement. But with the right styling, a tutu can be way more versatile than you might think.
This season I'm loving the layering game. The beauty of autumn fashion is that you can add all sorts of fun textures, like chunky knits and cozy cardigans, to elevate your tutu looks. And what's better than a chunky knit over a tutu for warmth on those crisp Barnet mornings?
Think about adding a vintage cardigan or a statement blazer to create a cool, edgy vibe. Don’t be afraid to experiment with contrasting textures. That silky tutu will look stunning with something fluffy, a faux fur or even velvet.
Want to dress it down? Tutus are surprisingly perfect for creating casual yet stylish looks. Team a tutu with a chunky sweater and sneakers for a casual daytime outfit. Or go for an oversized shirt and flatforms for a cool and relaxed feel.
Here are my top picks for tutu-infused autumn looks, inspired by my favourite spots in Barnet:
*1. Parkside Princess: *
A romantic tutu, in rosewood pink or dusty lavender, with a cosy chunky knit sweater (opt for a cowl neck or high neck to keep the chill at bay!)
- Pair with chic ankle boots and a vintage-style handbag.
Perfect spot: Take a stroll through Barnet Park for stunning autumn foliage and snap some pics with the beautiful fall colours!
2. Cafe Chic:
- A vibrant tutu in burgundy, crimson or rust – these colours look super glam in autumn.
- Layer with a relaxed fitted black turtleneck, and black tights for an effortless look.
- Perfect spot: Head to Barnet High Street for a morning coffee and brunch at a charming local cafe. A tutu is guaranteed to make heads turn!
3. Autumnal Embrace:
- Opt for a mini tutu, in pink or cream, to embrace the fall vibes.
- Pair it with a flowing floral skirt, a cute jumper and your favourite ankle boots.
- Perfect spot: Explore * Barnet's parks* – from Totteridge Park to Broomfield Park. A shorter tutu is perfect for strolling the paths and leaves!
4. Urban Elegance:
- Pair a tutu with a tailored black blazer, black leggings and boots. You can add a trench coat for a sophisticated look.
- Perfect spot: Take a walk down * Barnet High Street,* embrace the city chic vibe with your fab look, and enjoy the hustle and bustle of autumn in the city.
One of my top picks? A tutu in a beautiful shade of dusty rose with a subtle metallic shimmer, layered over a sheer black blouse. Perfect for a weekend shopping trip on Barnet High Street.
Tip: Look for tutu variations, such as multi-layered tulle, tulle with embroidery, or even pleated fabrics that can offer a more unique and sophisticated vibe.
Don't be afraid to accessorise! A touch of sparkle is never a bad thing. Throw in a statement necklace or earrings to add that extra "je ne sais quoi". Or opt for a sparkly headband for an elegant look. Don't forget a stylish, oversized bag, preferably in a rich autumnal colour like burnt orange or deep brown, to complete the look.
