Tutu Style: Dancing into Summer in Worksop

Hey lovely dancers, it’s Emma here! As the sun begins to shine and the days get longer, it's time to shake off the winter blues and embrace the vibrant energy of summer! And what better way to celebrate than by bringing some summery vibes into our dancewear? This week, we’re all about those stunning, eye-catching tutus that just scream summertime!

Living in Worksop, a beautiful little town nestled in Nottinghamshire, means I'm constantly surrounded by beautiful nature and historic charm. This week, I’m going to delve into some of my favourite tutu styles that I think will look absolutely incredible both in the studio and when we’re out and about, soaking up the sunshine. Whether you're hitting the dance floor, chilling in the park, or enjoying a coffee on a sunny terrace, these tutu trends will make you feel like a princess.

The Delicate Pastel Dream

Summer is all about pastels! So, I'm loving tutus in soft pinks, dreamy lavenders, and breezy blues. The light hues are incredibly flattering, creating a fresh, ethereal vibe. For me, it’s the ultimate summertime aesthetic, like a ballet performance in a garden fairytale! I find these tutus are fantastic for outdoor classes, adding a touch of magic to any environment. And speaking of magical… there’s a brand new ballet school opening in Worksop just down the road from my favourite cafe. I think a delicate, powder blue tutu would look amazing when I pop down to the open day later this week. It's definitely going on my shopping list!

The Floral Flutter

Floral prints are an absolute must for any summer outfit, and tutus are no exception. Look for intricate floral designs featuring soft pinks, sunshine yellows, and vibrant orange tones. They're fun, they're bold, and they add a pop of playful personality to your dancewear. There’s nothing like the delicate movement of a tutu skirt and the bright colours to really bring those vibrant summer floral patterns to life. Imagine swirling across the stage in a sunflower yellow tutu with pops of crimson floral details – it's pure magic!

The Sparkling Suncatcher

Adding a little sparkle to your outfit never fails to add a touch of glamour. This summer, I’m all about dazzling embellishments. From sequins to glittering beads, these eye-catching details will make your tutu truly shimmer under the sunlight.

There's this little vintage clothing shop near the old market square that recently started selling beautiful second-hand tutus – they have a whole selection of sparkling embellishments! If I'm not careful, I might buy too many! They're definitely perfect for those summer recitals and performances when you want to shine brighter than the stage lights.

The Layered Look

Want to make a real statement? Layer up! Think chiffon, tulle, and netting, all flowing and dancing in perfect harmony. You can play around with different colours, textures, and lengths to create your own unique look. I especially love the combination of a light pink base with layers of lavender tulle cascading down, topped with a smattering of shimmering beads.

And just imagine wearing a tiered tulle tutu on the cobblestone streets of Worksop on a warm summer evening! It’s a style that combines both the playful feel of summer with the elegant sophistication of classic ballet.

The Short and Sweet

Sometimes, less is more, and shorter tutus can be just as stylish and sophisticated. These cute mini tutus can be great for adding a touch of flirty femininity to your outfit, without overwhelming your look. I'm loving the look of short tutus paired with an oversized summer blouse – a perfect outfit for a coffee date at Worksop's new outdoor café!

The Colour Pop

Forget muted tones; let's get bright! It’s summer, so it’s the perfect time to experiment with bold, vibrant colours. A bright pink tutu with a touch of golden embellishment will add a burst of playful energy to any summer ensemble. I often wear a bold pink tutu with a simple, plain t-shirt – it's a casual look with a stylish edge.

Taking Inspiration From Local Culture

You know, living in Worksop means having access to all kinds of different inspiration, from our lovely green spaces to our history. We’ve got Sherwood Forest on our doorstep, so I'm drawing inspiration from the woodlands and the beauty of the natural world – think earthy green tutus, touches of moss green and earthy browns, and maybe even a few hints of woodland creature details. A bit whimsical, but definitely beautiful!

For a modern twist on traditional styles, I’ve also been inspired by the old medieval castles and houses in Worksop. The stained-glass windows, the beautiful intricate stonework – there's so much inspiration there! I’ve been thinking about pairing a soft lilac tutu with shimmering jewel tones and gold embellishments, reminiscent of a beautiful stained-glass window, and layering it with a delicate black net skirt. I can't wait to try out these new looks at the dance studios!

The Perfect Tutu For Every Occasion

Whether you're taking a ballet class, hitting the shops, or simply enjoying a summer evening with friends, a beautiful tutu will always add a touch of magic to your day. You can experiment with colour, texture, length, and embellishments to find the perfect tutu to reflect your individual style. It’s summer, it’s time to unleash your creativity, have fun with it, and celebrate the beautiful dance of life.
