Tutu Styles in Fashion: A Whirlwind of Pink in Bath
Hey there, fashionistas! It's me, your friendly neighbourhood ballet blogger, back with a little dose of pink-tastic tutu fashion! As the sun peeks out and the days get longer, we're all itching to embrace the joy of summer. And what better way to do that than by bringing a bit of ballet chic to our wardrobe? We're not talking about actual tutus for a day out, darling, (although who's to sayā¦ ?) but weāre exploring the versatile and oh-so-feminine style that tutus inspire in fashion today.
From the Stage to the Street
Forget the stuffy, uptight world of fashionāwe're all about fun, creativity, and embracing our inner ballerina, even if the closest we've gotten to a pirouette is in front of the mirror!
Tutufashion, as we love to call it, has a fantastic history. From the dramatic tutus of the Victorian era to the graceful creations of iconic ballet designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Christian Lacroix, tutu fashion has been a consistent influence on designers and brands all over the globe.
Today, tutus have become a symbol of playful elegance and effortless charm. And let's be honest, who can resist the whimsy of a voluminous skirt, or the elegant swish of a layered tulle dress?
A Tutu Tour de Bath
And speaking of whimsical, this week Iām taking you on a little tutufashion tour around my favourite little city - Bath. Itās brimming with places to find gorgeous tutufashion inspiration ā and Iām giving you a peek into where Iāve been indulging in the lovely world of ballet chic.
Tutus to Talk About
Firstly, a must visit for any ballet fashion lover: The Roman Baths Museum. The opulent grandeur of the historical Roman Baths, a breathtaking masterpiece of Roman architecture, has inspired numerous high-end fashion designers ā think Gucciās intricate embroideries and the dramatic gowns by Dior. This kind of fashion inspiration is everywhere in Bath - youāll even find echoes of the Roman Empireās rich aesthetic in the stylish shops lining the streets.
Now, letās head to Bathās stylish little boutiques. I canāt resist a dip into the divine boutiques along Milsom Street and Southgate Street. From the chic, sleek outfits at H. R. Higgins, with their classic, elegant, timeless style that would have even Diaghilev (one of the most important figures in ballet) approve, to the stunning contemporary designs of No. 37 Milsom Street, thereās something for everyone! Theyāve all taken inspiration from the romantic world of ballet. Think ethereal fabrics, flowing silhouettes, and delicate detailsā all adding a dash of ballerina charm.
My Favourite āTutuā Look
My latest summer-ready obsession is a classic black tulle skirt. Paired with a loose, white linen blouse, itās a simple yet stunning outfit. Itās so perfect for Bath, whether Iām enjoying afternoon tea at Sally Lunn's, sipping wine at a pavement cafe or taking a picnic at The Royal Crescent. Itās the perfect combination of femininity and fun.
Tutus to Inspire
If you want to try this look yourself, thereās no shortage of places to get inspired here in Bath. H. R. Higgins has beautiful black skirts, No. 37 Milsom Street offers beautiful, high-end tulle and Oliver Bonas is also great for some fun tulle skirts too.
Let's talk shoes, shall we? Dolce Vita, nestled on Stall Street, has these wonderful pair of blush-pink heeled sandals, a pretty addition to this look, as does the delightful shoe heaven of Mott's Shoes.
And what about accessories? Accessorize, just a short hop away on Bath Street, has some truly wonderful sparkling statement jewellery and dainty gold earrings to compliment this timeless and versatile look.
And for a finishing touch, Iāve discovered the perfect place for hair adornmentsāThe Flower Shop on Kingsmead Square offers a selection of dainty little flowers and blooms for the hair. A charming way to create a little bit of romantic bohemian magic.
Dance it Out, Darlings!
From my tutufashion tour of Bath to my summer style pick, the key takeaway is this - tutufashion can inspire just about anything. Embrace your inner ballerina. Be creative and let your style do the talking!
