The Latest Tutu Trend: October 2004
Darling, what a month for ballet fashion! We've seen a delightful whirlwind of style that has taken our breath away. There's no denying the impact of the latest tutu trend. The designers have been so inventive, finding fresh and delightful ways to work the classic silhouette.
This month, I was simply smitten with the gorgeous designs at the Royal Ballet's production of Swan Lake. Those tutus were simply divine! A blend of classic and contemporary, each design embodied a unique essence of both strength and delicate femininity.
- The black swan tutus were utterly captivating. Imagine, the sharp black tulle, slashed and layered with dramatic abandon, creating a sense of darkness and power. Simply electrifying.

One standout was the dazzling coral tutu in La Fille mal Gardée at the Birmingham Royal Ballet, simply fabulous. The shade of coral perfectly embodied the joy and exuberance of the production, truly inspiring.
As for my verdict? The tutu has been redefined this month, embracing a new era of daring elegance and contemporary interpretations of classic shapes. We’re embracing a sense of power, playfulness, and feminine strength. The tutu continues to be a statement of fashion, grace and captivating power, and it's one we're going to be seeing a lot more of.
