The fabric was sheer, flowing, with layers of tulle creating that ethereal effect that is the hallmark of Chanel's aesthetic. But the true innovation? He played with colour in a way that felt new and exciting. The white was so blindingly white, and the black, a matte, blackest black, creating an almost graphic, theatrical look on the runway.
- Balmain: Olivier Rousteing, as ever, served up a sexy and statement making take on the tutu, with layers of silk chiffon ruched at the hips, for a look that was simultaneously daring and elegant. Balmain has this incredible gift of creating an edgier, fashion-forward take on classical shapes like the tutu. This felt new, sexy, and wearable!
- Dior: This is where it’s getting really exciting for those who really know and love ballet. The collection's designer, Maria Grazia Chiuri, celebrated the work of Degas in her latest collection . I could practically hear the flutter of dancer’s feet and the sounds of music coming from backstage! The colours were, again, blinding, in the bold, iconic Dior reds and pinks, and she included the perfect black satin ballet slippers to give those final touches of sophistication.
