Ballet Tutu Fashion and Style at www pink tutu com

Darling, oh, darling! This has been the month for tulle and I’ve positively been giddy. London’s Royal Opera House has seen a positively ravishing explosion of tutus this month – the costumes in the new production of La Bayadère had me in fits! Not even the new “urban” adaptation of Swan Lake by that controversial, and often vulgar, choreographer, Nigel Something-or-Other, could spoil my mood.

There were tutus for every taste, the kind of choices which would make a girl feel like she could literally fly!

My Top Picks of the Month:

  • A Pastel Dream: In a positively ravishing shade of lilac, the ballerinas in La Bayadère were a sight for sore eyes. Imagine, if you will, the delicate gossamer fabric, it fluttered and billowed so gracefully as if each dancer were a butterfly alighting upon the stage. Just dreamy. Those tutus were so beautiful, and what can I say about the colours - it was pure, elegant and understated femininity. Divine!
  • The Classics Remain: You just cannot go wrong with traditional tutus. This month's production of Swan Lake - the "original" one darling! - has proved it yet again. It doesn't have to be "urban" or “modern” darling! This tutus are truly timeless! Oh those layered, perfectly white skirts are perfection!
  • Something Different: You won’t catch me being caught out by those avant-garde “designs" they try to get away with these days! Some modern designs don’t know the difference between tulle and a sack, darling! But that production of Giselle, I have to say I did think the new designer's interpretation of the peasant tutu was rather... unexpected. You just can’t let the traditional tutu fall by the wayside! The layers are less, perhaps even shorter, but I do like the idea of this "deconstruction". Who knows, we may just be seeing a modern day “reimagining” of what a tutu should look like!

Whatever my lovelies are creating and wearing, the month of September has proved, that nothing is more enchanting than a truly glorious tutu.

Your affectionate fashion observer,

Geoffrey.
