Fashion at the Barre: The July Tutu's
Darling, let's face it - the summer ballet season was absolutely sensational! And while the performances themselves were a dazzling spectacle, let's be honest, we couldn't help but be captivated by the *truly* dazzling, *truly* inspiring ballet fashions. The tutus, darlings, the tutus were *divine*.
A Classical Whirl
- Oh, *quelle surprise*! We saw plenty of the classic Romantic tutus swirling across the stage, fluffy and airy, they were so incredibly graceful. A particular highlight was the breathtaking "Swan Lake" performance by the National Ballet - their tutus were the epitome of *l'air* , with wispy layers that seemed to float on the air.
Modern and Chic
- However, this season was about more than just traditional ballet wear. Several modern pieces really *swooned* us! In the Royal Ballet's contemporary masterpiece "The Winter's Tale," the tutus were all sharp angles and daring, geometric cuts - it was all the right kind of *edge* we wanted to see. And who could forget the *fabulous* and avant-garde "Juliet and Romeo"? The sheer panels and sleek silhouettes made for the perfect mix of elegance and audacity.
Color and Texture
- We are completely *head over heels* with the fabulous textures, and let's not forget, the incredible colours. One of my absolute favorites was the opulent use of metallic fabric - oh, darling! They added a glamorous shimmer and gleam to every pirouette. I do *adore* a bit of *je ne sais quoi* and that was just the perfect touch. The color palettes were simply divine - we were *enthralled* with deep emerald greens, lustrous rose gold, and, my personal *favorite* , sapphire blue. So, my dears, let’s embrace this joyful splash of color *sans* reservation!
It’s clear to me - this is truly a *golden* age for tutu design, isn’t it? If I had to choose one thing that was especially delightful this season? Oh darling, we just can't *ignore* those fantastic new textured tutus - feathers, silk, sequins and tulle Oh my! What a truly stunning spectacle!
