Dearest darlings, it’s been a most fabulous month for fashion and ballet. A veritable explosion of ruffles and tulle, my dears, I am simply tickled pink. March has seen the tutu emerge from the shadows, more daring than ever, and oh so utterly fabulous. I must confess, my collection of tutus is brimming with delightful acquisitions, but this month has given it a most divine jolt. Let's dive into the highlights:
- Paris, My Darling, Paris! The Chanel Haute Couture collection, as you know, darling, always brings an exquisite Parisian touch. This season, Karl Lagerfeld himself resurrected the classic tulle tutu, spun it through a couture lens, and crafted something that made my jaw drop! The ivory tulle swirled and fluttered with such ethereal lightness, it was almost celestial. My little collection cried out for its newest addition and it has already been added to the top of the display shelf.
- Oh, London! The Royal Opera House has brought the Tutu Back, Darlings! And what a joyous return it is! I am, of course, a longtime fan of the Royal Ballet, and I was positively delighted to see so many glorious tutus in the latest productions. In the premiere of “Giselle," we were treated to tutus that danced in perfect synchronicity with the exquisite ballerinas. The tutus themselves were a symphony of colour and movement, like a dance of their own. The ballet was simply breathtaking - an intoxicating cocktail of grace and style - just divine, simply divine.
- Speaking of a Tutu that really Stole the Show! At the Bolshoi in Moscow, a captivating production of “Swan Lake” featuring one remarkable tutu has truly taken the world by storm. I simply couldn’t resist and added it to my collection! The design was almost baroque in its detail - cascading layers of tulle, sparkling beads, a design unlike anything I had ever seen. The dancer herself, well, let’s just say it, darling, was quite heavenly and her dancing simply sublime. My collection has rarely had such a worthy new piece.
But darlings, it isn't only the elite maisons that are embracing the tutu this season. I saw the most delightful high-street iterations on young ladies at both The Royal Ballet and Bolshoi - the tutu has, darling, it truly has become a statement. And a statement of pure joy! So, dear readers, if you see a tutu, stop, stare, and soak up its glorious tulle goodness! This truly is the tutu's moment.
