The world of ballet, oh how it twirls and spins, in its infinite charm and elegance. This May, as the lilacs bloom, I bring you the latest from the international stages.

Alighting in the city of light, my dear, is the enchanting ballet production, "La Dame aux Camellias" at the Paris Opera Ballet. The venerable stage itself takes on an air of romance with the haunting beauty of Marguerite Gautier, performed with captivating passion by Sylvie Guillem. The production captures the essence of the tragedy; love and death intertwine against a backdrop of glittering Belle Epoque Parisian life. With exquisite choreography by John Neumeier and sets that shimmer with grandeur, the tragic tale of Marguerite and Armand unfolds, an ethereal dance of beauty and heartbreak. A masterpiece! Do take a look when the company brings it to New York this fall!

On the other side of the Atlantic, in New York's vibrant heart, New York City Ballet’s annual spring gala was a sparkling affair! The choreography was simply ravishing and so on trend! A spectacular celebration of the company's rich heritage, it boasted new works and breathtaking revivals. It is with immense excitement that I share that Alexei Ratmansky, the artistic director, unveiled his latest masterpiece. It is a bold, abstract piece of exquisite modernity and showcases the power of the company’s dancers.

My dear, a new ballet production "Echoes" premiered at the Royal Ballet, London! I was in the audience, perched in the Royal Opera House, and could barely contain my excitement for this ambitious ballet from Christopher Wheeldon. The choreography is utterly sublime! Inspired by the idea of memory, it uses the power of dance to conjure the echoes of the past. It was so refreshing to witness a bold foray into a new ballet production.

In Russia, the bastion of the ballet world, I witnessed the incomparable Anna Nikulina, a prima ballerina of extraordinary skill at the Bolshoi Theatre. A seasoned dancer with effortless poise, she captivates the stage with an elegance that is nothing short of pure artistry! In her latest role in a new production of Giselle, Anna, like an ethereal wisp, painted a poignant portrayal of a heartbroken woman consumed by the sorrows of her world.

Speaking of sorrows, there were more moving performances across the globe in the past month. It was heartening to witness the revival of "Swan Lake" at the National Ballet of Canada, in Toronto. The production is as stunning and timeless as ever! The Canadian Ballet truly captured the depth of this classic, offering powerful dance and mesmerizing beauty, with the breathtaking performances of the ballet's talented dancers, making the swan's tale ever more captivating. My darlings, if you haven't seen "Swan Lake", do consider adding it to your list for the summer season!

Oh my, what about that performance at the Stuttgart Ballet's production of "Mayerling"! The German Ballet, in this performance, was, well, simply stunning! This company truly showcases its power and beauty! This emotionally resonant production, set to a soul-stirring score, captures the heart's ache of a royal scandal against a tapestry of intricate dance.

The ballet world was graced with the brilliance of the rising star, Ivan Vasiliev at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg! A new interpretation of the great "Le Corsaire", was brought to life on the stage of the famed theater with the artistry and dynamism of Ivan. I was simply entranced by the exuberant choreography and, in particular, by Ivan’s technical prowess. It was simply astounding! Such precision, strength, and expressiveness are found only in dancers who are both gifted and blessed by the Muses!

More than just ballet productions this month, the world of the arts is full of wonderful events! The dance community is also witnessing an explosion of new works. • Dance Festivals! It's all happening at dance festivals around the world. From the Ballet International held in Helsinki to The Venice Biennale Dance Festival in Italy, dancers and audiences have gathered to celebrated the art. The talent and creativity displayed are beyond compare. And this isn’t to mention "The Dance Showcase" in London! There you can discover new dance artists who are already breaking barriers in this inspiring art form. It's quite exhilarating, and I recommend catching them on tour as soon as possible! • And who can forget our beloved London's Royal Ballet. My darling! It seems like the entire country, including a few of our favourite stars (dare I say, royals!), was on hand at the "Royal Ballet's Gala" to celebrate their 90th Anniversary. This special performance truly highlighted their commitment to excellence.

Finally, darling, my favourite thing of the month – the wonderful ballet documentary.

"The Soul of the Dance", directed by David Yates, a fascinating story! It documents the making of the New York City Ballet's performance "The Rite of Spring" and the intricate relationship of choreographers and dancers. What a treat this documentary was! The filming is superb and the intimacy and tension captured through the documentary style brought the audience into the very heart of a masterpiece! I do hope, my dear, that you enjoyed this month's whirl through the international ballet scene. Do write to me if you enjoyed any of these productions. It's a pleasure to share the magical world of ballet with you. And be sure to stay tuned for the exciting developments in the world of dance!
