Ballet Tutu Fashion and Style at www pink tutu com

Darling, it's simply divine! August has brought a veritable explosion of tulle and tailoring on the fashion front, with tutus stealing the show - and they’re looking absolutely divine. You know how much I love my collection – it takes me right back to the days when Ballet was an ethereal, dream-like experience… oh the nostalgia, darling! It's delightful to see the designers referencing the dance world for inspiration. And my dears, the tutus! Oh, the tutus. A glorious symphony of fabric, layers and elegance.

I'm seeing some very chic interpretations: from the softest layers of whispery tulle to structurally strong lines reminiscent of a dancer in repose - we've witnessed everything! The tutu, an icon, is certainly undergoing a chic revival and taking us from the stage to the street.

Here’s what caught my discerning eye:
  • The exquisitely layered creations by Chanel, in shades of ivory and blush, evoked a romantic ballerina – like an angel descending, quite heavenly. It's a bit "old world" but I think Coco would approve!
  • Balmain went all out with dramatic layers of shimmering metallic tulle – a glamorous, avant-garde approach and I loved the edge they brought to it – dare I say the designer even managed to create an air of rock chic in such a delicate fabric? The tutus in this collection felt empowered, just like those sassy ballerinas of today, quite a departure from the classical forms that inspire these outfits.
  • Rodarte was exquisite, offering up ethereal and whimsical tutus in intricate embroidery and hand-painted florals, almost edible-looking. Each one a true work of art, these are going straight on my wish list! Oh darling, they looked so utterly romantic.
  • Christian Dior's creations were more whimsical, reminding me of the ballet shoes I collected back in the day. The colours and textures were perfectly balanced. That famous Dior line – perfect in every sense!
  • The "street style" version of the tutu has definitely arrived. These weren't your typical, stage-ready creations darling, the designers, have embraced a casual vibe with comfortable silhouettes and simple silhouettes . These are my favorites to see – and quite wearable! - a definite win.

Oh darlings, as a lover of all things beautiful, and a firm believer in a well-constructed tutu (what can I say – I've been a lifelong fan of the form, even as a child, they just enthralled me!), I am delighted that the designers have given us so many creative interpretations. They've created an exquisite dance of fashion that is both charming and wearable. Do have a marvelous time indulging in all the beautiful, tulle delights this season. I look forward to sharing my fashion finds in the next issue. In the meantime, my darling, take care! Ciao.
