Oh my darlings, the month of March has truly been a feast for the eyes! It seems everyone is taking a cue from the ethereal world of ballet, embracing the elegance and sophistication of this timeless art form. I must say, I’m absolutely thrilled. This season, it’s all about the tulle.
The tutu is making a bold and beautiful comeback! From the delicate whispers of soft, diaphanous tulle to the bold, dramatic layers of vibrant hues, tutu designs have captivated our imaginations and are inspiring trends we will all be following in this divine season.
It’s so wonderful to see that the tutu, so often confined to the hallowed halls of the ballet theatre, is now being embraced in its versatility, transcending the world of dance. Of course, my absolute favourite moment this month came with the exquisite “tutu-inspired" collection by the celebrated Parisian couturier, Christian Lacroix. My darling! Those frothy layers of sheer tulle! Absolutely dreamy, each with its intricate embellishments - think pearls and lace and glorious tiers of exquisite fabric, culminating in a symphony of swirling colours. Divine!
And the daring "Redefining the Tutu" exhibition at The London Museum of Fashion? Darling, one had to see it to truly grasp the impact. It brought together designers from every corner of the globe, presenting unique visions of the tutu and its evolution. The exhibit explored its rich history in dance while showcasing its metamorphosis in contemporary fashion, with an emphasis on its sheer versatility.
