Leotard Fashion in Hayes: #leotardfashion

Hey guys! I’m Eloise, a full-time professional dancer who trains in Hayes and I thought it would be fun to put a post together about a passion of mine: leotards!

Now I've been on stage for most of my life. My earliest memories are of tap shoes and tutu's! From the age of six, when my love of dance first started, I’ve pretty much been wearing them for pretty much every activity – ballet, tap, contemporary, modern, even gym! But don’t get me wrong, there’s no mistaking that leotard trend - it's super flattering, elegant and comfortable! Even though we're at the cutting edge of fashion!

To make sure you’re getting the right one, think about the shape, the fabric and what sort of movement you're planning to do - even down to the cut of your legs. You need something that works for your style. But really you can go from classical, sophisticated, minimalist and clean - think black, to really glamorous and bold – you've got loads of color options and all the big brands offer amazing designs.

What’s In Fashion In Hayes Right Now?

  • Mesh Panels: These are totally popular – I love that sheer look with leotard designs which show your toned muscles!
  • The Bodysuit: I mean you just can't beat that high neck bodysuit! Especially with cut-out panels. Totally sassy! They can really help you to elongate your shape.
  • Tutus: I know, we've been seeing classic romantic tulle with tulle that’s been everywhere and will always be a must-have in a dancer's wardrobe. It’s so beautiful. And there are also new exciting versions – for instance a tutu with straps and even ones with sleeves that are being sported in so many Hayes studios and making me consider a few more!
  • Fabrics: Lace and even crochet, I can't get enough! Super flattering! Even mesh is pretty popular in Hayes. So many styles now even incorporate stretchy fabric that gives loads of movement. It’s a great option for those complex movements. And if you are looking for something a bit more sporty, consider a nylon leotard, which comes in all sorts of designs. I recently got a new neon green one. Really fab! But also super comfy! The best thing is they come in so many great fabrics like lycra, velvet or spandex – oh, I love them!

You guys need to go to Dancewear Plus. That's where all the pros go. All the dancers are like, 'What's new at Dancewear Plus?!'. There's some amazing designs right on my doorstep in Hayes, you guys. It’s definitely got all those on-trend designs.

You could really get into those fabulous looks that everyone is trying – the super tight bodysuits, even think about the 'long and lean’ look that comes with a one-shoulder style or a halter neck (that's so super elegant and really highlights your body shape!) – there's something for everyone. And with the range of sizes available you're guaranteed to find a fit. I can’t wait to go there again. There’s just so much inspiration!

And really this all means that even for a normal dance session you can feel like a star - even in the studio. I can definitely recommend all you Hayes dancers try something new – there's such a buzz about all the fashion. You guys might find yourselves wanting more!
