Okay, so you're all familiar with the #leotardstyle by now right? Because it’s seriously trending! It’s actually making a huge splash in the world of fashion. Just check out the street style blogs – they’re dripping with it. And I’ve definitely noticed this vibe everywhere in my home town of Royal Leamington Spa. The thing is, leotards are not just for dancers, gymnasts and yogis anymore. You can wear them casually, formally or anything in between. As a ballet dancer and gymnast, and just a huge lover of anything that looks and feels sleek, I have been tracking this for a while. But seriously, even in Leamington Spa? Yes! Leotards: From Stage to Street
Let's rewind for a sec. When I started taking ballet at eight, a leotard was essentially uniform. You had the basics, and you were lucky if there was some colour choice. Pink, black and occasionally a funky neon. Nowadays it's all about versatility. How to rock a leotard on the streets of Leamington Spa
As a professional gymnast and ballerina, you're probably asking: how can I work the leotard on the street? It's really all about the layering and what you’re pairing it with. And that’s why I'm calling on my fashion stylist inner self and sharing my tips!
I'm not just talking about throwing on a hoodie. Though it's definitely an option, think sweaters, jackets, blazers, denim. For my everyday leotard look, a fitted leotard with a fitted oversized sweater and black high-top Converse is my go-to. When it's a bit chillier, a leather bomber or denim jacket layered over my leotard will instantly change my mood. It’s streetwear meets elegant dancer - it’s a combo that’s so on-point.
Accessories like earrings, chunky jewellery and handbags add instant attitude to the simple leotard and bring it from “studio” to street.
Leotards are great because they hug your silhouette. It really gives you the freedom to play around with all those trendy high-waisted pieces, like cargo pants, skirt-trousers (love this trend) and of course, skirts.
You don’t always have to wear black or white! Go with bold prints! I’ve been seeing all sorts of cool patterns. In Royal Leamington Spa, the shop “Threads” has some fab patterned leotards for that street look. A pop of print is always exciting!
From Stage to Cocktail
Ok, this one's a little more daring. If you’re feeling fearless, take your leotard into the evening. Throw on a sequin bomber jacket and go out dancing. Or, you could even glam it up with heels, jewellery and a dramatic skirt for a sophisticated cocktail party outfit. Leotards with sparkly or beaded designs would really hit the spot in Leamington. And, let’s be honest, if anyone knows sparkles, it’s Leamington Spa! #leotardstyle #LeotardFashion – It’s all about you
The beauty of #leotardstyle is that it’s personal, so let your inner style shine! Have fun, embrace your own unique twist and let your individuality come out. The whole idea is that you take the silhouette and create your own style around it. From casual street looks to statement cocktail outfits, leotards are officially your new best friend.
I’m obsessed with the trend of tutus making their way off the ballet stage! It’s the ultimate fusion of delicate and daring, and Leamington Spa is really embracing this look. I think I need to get myself a pastel-coloured, multi-layered tulle tutu for a weekend trip into town.
Go on! Have Fun
So grab your leotards (and your tutus!), hit the shops and explore what #leotardfashion can do for your look. Don't be shy! The key is to have fun and let your unique style guide you. See you on the streets of Royal Leamington Spa. #leotardfashion #leotardstyle.
