Leotard Style in Newton Aycliffe

Hey fellow dancers and gymnasts! Your girl, Amelia here, and today I’m serving you a steaming cuppa of #leotardstyle inspiration straight from the heart of Newton Aycliffe! 😉 I know what you’re thinking – "Newton Aycliffe?! Where's the fashion?". Don't underestimate this little town, because it's secretly harbouring some real #leotardfashion gems, trust me.

Look, I get it – when you're on the hunt for leotard fashion, your mind automatically jumps to the big cities: London, Paris, maybe even New York! But, here’s the thing: some of the best #leotardfashion secrets are hidden away in unexpected places. Just like those vintage boutiques tucked away in charming little towns. (You can find them on Etsy and Depop if you’re struggling!). Newton Aycliffe is no different! While it's not known for its designer boutiques or flashy fashion shows, it actually boasts some real treasures when it comes to leotards, and even a handful of great tutus for those of you who, like me, are obsessed.

I was out for a morning stroll around Newton Aycliffe’s High Street – it’s actually really pretty, very ‘quaint’, like a proper market town – when I discovered a little independent dance shop called “Dancespiration”. They've got this massive range of leotards – every colour you can imagine, with sparkly mesh panels, classic scoop necks, and even the trendiest cut-out designs (you’ve gotta have your back on fleek, babes!😂 ). Plus, they had all sorts of funky tutus – think layers and layers of tulle, even some neon colour combos. You'll definitely be able to find a look that screams ‘me' – and remember to share it on Instagram with #leotardfashion.

The other brilliant thing about "Dancespiration" is that the shop assistant (I’m assuming she’s the owner but I didn’t ask her!) – she is absolutely LOVELY – she was happy to help me pick out the right fit and size. We even chatted about what leotard styles are the best for specific types of dance. She gave me a proper rundown of what you need for, say, ballet, and then how things need to be a bit more “street” and “sporty” when you’re doing street dance. Honestly, it's that personalized service you don't often find these days! I ended up going home with the most fabulous silver-studded leotard, two different kinds of legwarmers, a beautiful peach tutu with pink sparkles (what can I say, I'm a girl who likes to add sparkle!), and a very nice padded top for my bra which you know I had to get as my chest is not really the shape for leotards.

Speaking of size, have you checked out their website? They do online orders now too, which is great news. As they sell leotards, it’s always difficult to know if a specific one will fit – it’s either too big or too small. It was fantastic to browse their whole selection on the laptop while drinking tea (always drinking tea!) on a Sunday afternoon. I knew then I’d found somewhere special.

Honestly, I reckon Newton Aycliffe has the makings of a true #leotardstyle hot spot – a town with hidden gems, where the vibe is laid back, the shop owners are incredibly welcoming, and you never know what cool leotards you might find on a shopping trip. It’s also super easy to get there on public transport, there are plenty of buses running. Now all I need is some great lighting for some fab outfit selfies!

Anyway, get down to "Dancespiration" on the High Street. Don't be afraid to explore Newton Aycliffe's #leotardfashion scene - I promise, it’s way more exciting than you think!

And finally… here are some of my tips for rocking that #leotardstyle!

  • Find the right leotard for YOUR body type – we are not all born as svelte and perfectly shaped dancers. Embrace those curves!
  • Accessorize - a splash of colour, a statement necklace, a pair of bold earrings can turn a simple leotard into an Insta-worthy look.
  • Experiment! The more you try, the more you'll find what makes you feel confident and empowered!

Thanks for reading, and see you at the barre, babes! xoxo
