Blackpool: Leotard Heaven Blackpool is an absolute treasure trove of fabulous leotards! As a professional dancer, and, of course, a huge leotard aficionado, I get excited just thinking about all the stylish, elegant, and dare I say, cheeky, leotards available in this fabulous seaside town. Let's talk leotard styles! I recently took a little trip down to the seaside to soak up the sunshine, the fresh air, and of course, to hit up some of my fave dance wear stores. Blackpool has become the epicentre for leotard style and I am so here for it!
Here's what caught my eye: * **The Classic Leotard** : These timeless gems, the foundation of every dancer's wardrobe, are so essential. From classic black and navy, to gorgeous blush and subtle teal hues, classic leotards never go out of style and are such a staple in a dancer's wardrobe. Think beautiful, lightweight stretch fabrics like microfiber. * **The Open Back Leotard:** Ah, the open back. Such an effortlessly cool, chic vibe. They always get compliments for showing off my back muscles after class. You can find a range of back designs: strappy, racer back or scooped, but each adds a dash of spice to any training. * **The Lace Leotard:** Oh, these are my favourites. The added touch of lace detail just elevates the look to another level. Imagine black lace with a fitted silhouette for a touch of vintage, Parisian style or go with a delicate nude lace option with floral details for a softer, more romantic feel. I wear mine on stage with an added skirt and they definitely get me noticed! * **The Mesh Leotard** :Mesh inserts, think, black, white or grey, add that much needed detail to make your leotard a true fashion statement. It can be anything from just a hint of mesh, strategically placed across the chest or a more substantial section of mesh detailing that creates a peekaboo effect, leaving your body subtly on show. I've even seen some meshed-sleeve leotards which just scream 'avant-garde' * **The Colour Block Leotard:** These vibrant, bold pieces instantly liven up a training outfit, injecting colour into my workout wardrobe. Imagine classic black, navy or charcoal with a bright pops of pink, coral, blue or purple detailing. Think bold geometrical shapes that really define and complement the curves of your body, or even contrast colours. Think navy and white stripes or classic red and white, this really adds that cool athletic look to a routine. * **The Leotard Skirt:** Yes, this combo is a serious game-changer. It can really take a classic leotard up a notch in terms of style and fashion. They add a feminine flair, which can really work wonders, especially during performances or in a choreographic environment. Imagine, the beautiful lines of a ballerina tutu for that classic, whimsical, airy feel. Or think a shorter and more playful dance-style skirt for a contemporary look, especially with mesh. Think classic, black or nude, a contrasting pop of bright colour or perhaps a metallic finish for extra shimmer! * **The Bodysuit**: Forget the classic leotard. Body suits with built-in underwear are now dominating the leotard world. These all-in-one beauties, which are normally stretch fabrics, offer unparalleled support, and can be a really flattering silhouette! You can find all different cuts: scoop necks, plunging Vs, and even cute halter necks. They often feature cute strappy back designs too. Perfect for workouts and you don't need to worry about any awkward lines or layering!
