Leotard Style in Lancaster: A Dancer’s Guide to the Best Styles
So, I know you guys know me well enough by now that leotards are my absolute favourite thing to wear. It's not just for the ballet, but honestly, leotards are a fantastic base for many, many outfits. Especially in a town like Lancaster which really embraces fashion with so much personality, and you need that flexibility for that, right?!
A leotard is always my favourite go-to look – just add some statement jewelry, and you’ve got an incredible evening look in no time! But this blog isn’t really for a night out! This is for *the leotard itself.* And trust me when I say, whether you’re in the gym, in the dance studio or just about to pop to the shop to get some snacks for your Pilates session, a stylish leotard is the thing you absolutely need! You have to have a few in your wardrobe, right?!
So with all that in mind, here are a few things I’ve found here in Lancaster that you might want to look at for some new inspiration for #leotardstyle:
Go Retro: I love to go for a 90’s vibe sometimes, with a fun colour leotard from The Dancewear Store. And their range is actually pretty incredible – the style is totally different but, really, anything you’d need from a classic dance look right through to street style and contemporary fashion you’re sorted. Think full-body leotards, for that classic, chic vibe, or even something that is mesh, if you’re after something more, you know, fashion-forward (but comfortable, always, obviously, right?!). The colours there are fantastic, from bright orange to bold purple – a perfect way to channel those *Friends* vibes when Monica was a *cheerleader* with that red leotard… And what can be more exciting for this town of vintage finds?
Tutus: A dance favourite (but we can rock a tutu with style on the high street). Yes, a classic, and one of the most fun items to go for when it comes to leotard fashion. Just like those colourful dance outfits when I was doing gymnastics, but let’s be real: think of a simple black tutu, maybe with a funky, oversized, sparkly jumper – just add some ballet pumps, and that’s a night out on the town all ready to go. Lancaster’s *The Dress Shop* is your best place for classic style for these, they can even tailor it to get the best fit. They’ve also got a great line of simple but chic and high-quality black and white leotards.
Keep it comfy: One of my biggest style mistakes is, of course, picking a leotard that is too loose and the next is getting something which isn't a comfy fit for when I am *stretching*, I’ve all but given up on getting *just the right fit*. With gyms in every corner in this town, this is crucial, and of course for a relaxed, chill weekend outfit for, I don’t know, just lounging at home but looking fabulous, really! I think that’s definitely what everyone needs, especially at this time of year. So that's why you’ll find me going for that snug, stretchy fit in any leotard, no matter if it is something bold and statement or something a bit more low-key. So if you’re thinking of getting something really simple, I’d recommend taking a look at The Yoga Place in Lancaster as well – for all you guys and girls with a chill, active style that is totally in tune with what I'm on about.
A Final Note: Leotards can go from cute and fun, like something right out of a ballet or gymnastics studio to something for when you really want to stand out – the thing that’s going to really be essential for your everyday wardrobe here. The great thing is Lancaster really has the mix of styles from the fun high-street fashion, boutiques for finding a perfect designer leotard and you can get your basics everywhere. Now you’ve got this checklist, go get shopping – happy hunting! #leotardfashion #leotardstyle
