Pink Tutu Travels: Episode 120 - A Whirl Through 1670! 🩰✨

Hey lovelies! It's your girl, Emma, back from another adventure in time! It’s been so exciting lately. So many incredible things going on in the world of ballet! But first…a quick announcement! If you haven’t checked out my new ballet collection - "Pink Perfection" - available on www.pink-tutu.com, go and have a look! You know me, I just love pink, and a bit of sparkle… and I’ve managed to incorporate these into a totally fabulous range! Now, enough of my shameless plugging - on with the story!

This month, I travelled all the way back to 12th December 1670 - wow! Such an incredible experience! It was like stepping into a time capsule of grandeur, fashion, and just a sprinkle of the beginnings of ballet, which is what really tickled my fancy! Remember to get your travel essentials: my trusty pink rucksack, perfect for gathering all the magical treasures from the past. And of course, what adventure would it be without my girl, Meg? My beautiful, sparkly pink Shire, the very model of equine elegance - I simply cannot travel in time without her! 💖

I arrived at the heart of London. Now, everyone was decked out in ruffles and frills - definitely some inspiration for future "Pink Perfection" collections! I’ve got to say, the ladies looked absolutely divine! Imagine billowing sleeves and silk gowns flowing in the wind - truly enchanting. It was almost like stepping into a scene from my favourite ballet, 'Giselle'! I got straight on the lookout for some exciting ballet happenings. I wandered through the cobbled streets, admiring the intricate buildings and soaking in the history all around me. You'd be surprised how much this city whispers of past glories! I just loved getting lost in its ancient labyrinthine charm!

Of course, no journey into the past would be complete without a trip to the theatre! 1670 was a big year for theatre in England. Sadly, ballet was still finding its feet and was mostly danced by professional men and women. I discovered an exciting production taking place at the King’s Theatre. The programme was ‘Love’s Triumph over Envy' and it was the work of Sir Robert Howard. This musical show included all sorts of incredible artistry, from dance to acting and singing, but the main event for me was the ballet! What’s even more thrilling is that the main dance was performed by Thomas d’Urfey, one of the most famous actors of the day. Can you imagine! I wish they had documented it with videos - but sadly it was only a written performance review. Imagine all those beautiful costumes and intricate dances.

After that performance, my spirit felt totally rejuvenated and filled with ideas! Oh! You won’t believe this - in a small cafe just outside the theatre I found the most delicious cakes! These gorgeous little pink delights were almost enough to distract me from the history swirling all around me - nearly! It made my heart flutter like a beautiful butterfly! My creative juices started flowing again, and I knew just how to incorporate some of those pink fancies into my new "Pink Perfection" designs - those sweet memories are just the inspiration I needed!

After my delicious treats, I found myself wanting to learn more about the London social scene back then. What was happening in ballet circles back then, I wondered. This took me to The Duke’s Playhouse where, amazingly, they put on the famous "English Dancing Master." Such fun, imagine waltzing the night away with that amazing London crowd! There was a little cafe, with a warm welcoming hearth. I sipped on hot spiced apple cider while the sounds of the night wafted out, a blend of laughter and dance rhythms, making my feet tap on the ground - my love of ballet is just a bit contagious! You can almost imagine the dresses swirling like flower petals, so light and beautiful - such graceful and elegant artistry, in such a wonderfully charming space!

Finally, as I started to make my way back through the magic of time travel, my head was swimming with inspiration! I had a brand new design for my pink tutu for my next ballet show, a collection of little heart shapes of sparkling sequins sewn to represent the charm and joy I felt in this unique historical experience. Plus, my "Pink Perfection" collection now had some incredible little, delicate pink ribbon detailing to celebrate the grandness and extravagance of that era. Such incredible detail, all coming from the historical magic of ballet and fashion of 1670.

I just love travelling through time! Each adventure always inspires me in my pursuit of beauty and perfection. Now it’s time to whip up that new tutu design - remember, my lovelies, always stay creative! Be like a flower blooming in a garden - express yourself! Always dance, laugh and love pink!

Til next time, keep your heads high and your pink tutus twirling, and don't forget to visit my new shop! www.pink-tutu.com
