Hello lovelies, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Travels! It’s December 12th, and guess where I am today? Why, it's the bustling city of Paris, of course! But not the modern-day Paris with its chic boutiques and towering buildings. Today, I’m experiencing the Parisian grandeur of the 17th century, a time of elegance, powdered wigs, and oh, so many layers of fabulous fabrics!
I arrived with Magic Meg, my gorgeous pink sparkling Shire horse. As always, her golden hooves made a magical shimmering trail on the cobblestone streets. It was quite a sight, and the Parisians, dressed in their finery, looked up with wide eyes. My pink tutu, twirling as we ambled along, was an absolute hit! It’s amazing how such a simple piece of attire can instantly brighten up any day, any time period, and any place.
Now, the reason for my Paris adventure? This date, December 12th, 1674, marks a historical moment for ballet: The inaugural performance of "The Triumph of Love", by Louis XIV’s Académie Royale de Danse, was a night of magnificent performances!
My heart just fluttered at the thought! The Royal Academy of Dance, housed in the Salle des Spectacles du Palais Royal , was the center of ballet innovation during this period. Imagine – a ballet dedicated entirely to love, a theme that's close to my own pink heart!
The theatre was opulent. Imagine walls draped with luxurious fabrics, glistening chandeliers illuminating a space brimming with excitement, and, of course, the scent of expensive perfumes lingering in the air! My senses were truly overwhelmed.
And then, the music began. A delightful Baroque score! And with a flourish, the dancers, beautifully clad in costumes inspired by mythology, took to the stage. Their steps were a masterful mix of graceful jumps and flowing movements – the perfect embodiment of elegant passion.
As I watched the ballet unfold, a pang of longing washed over me – a longing for a bygone era where dance was an art of pure artistry, an expression of love, a true delight to the eyes. It was inspiring!
My backpack is bursting at the seams with gorgeous treasures. There’s a beautiful silk scarf depicting a scene from “The Triumph of Love” and a fascinating antique dance score I’ll be adding to my growing collection at home!
But before I leave Paris, I have a confession to make. During my travels, I was struck by the stunning beauty of French 17th-century fashion. The ruffles, the intricate lace, and those extravagant gowns! It sparked a desire in me - a longing for an era where even everyday wear was considered high art! My inner fashionista was tingling. Oh, the exquisite shoes, the delicate jewelry… it was all too much for a pink tutu lover like myself to resist!
I've decided to bring back a touch of that French elegance to Derbyshire. My mission is to design my very own pink tutu line, incorporating the elegance and sophistication of that bygone Parisian era, but with a pink twist, of course.
I know, you’re all wondering – when will this incredible pink line debut? I'm putting together the most amazing launch event, filled with vintage charm, delicate delights, and the magic of the dance. It'll be a pink party like no other! I'm not going to spoil the surprise, but let me tell you, it's going to be absolutely breathtaking!
Now, off to the next time period with Magic Meg! You never know where our next adventures may lead!
And remember lovelies, always keep it pink!
See you next month on www.pink-tutu.com!
Until then, keep twirling, Emma xoxo
